The Stayers Hurdle looks like a fascinating race with the top five in the market all vying for favouritism and all with a very good chance on their best form. However, one horse to be following in this race is Flooring Porter it was a very gallant second at Leopardstown over Christmas. He also won this race last year from the front, and Danny Mullins is a fantastic rider at judging the pace in these types of races. If he can get in front on this horse throughout the early stages of the race, I think he will be very difficult to peg back. At a price of 3/1 – he looks a fair bet.
The Kim Muir Handicap Chase is a tough way to finish off the card but I am quite keen on the apparent second string in this line up for Gordon Elliot and Jamie Codd. That horse is Smoking Gun, who has a rating of 140 to contest with on this occasion and should be able to run very well off that mark if having a going day. He stays very well, and his jumping is professional, so there is a lot to like about this horse’s chances. Frontal Assault may well be a hard horse to beat, but the value looks to be with this guy – with a price of 7/1 on Paddy Power looking like an each way steal.
