Premier League action is back after a week-long break due to International fixtures and WhichBookie football analyst Matt Le Tissier takes a look at the 10 games which are scheduled to take place from Saturday – Monday.
This week, Matt has selected an 11/10 NAP and a Sunday/Monday double priced at 3/1.
The Merseyside derby kick-starts the Premier League action on Saturday and Everton will be going into this match with as much confidence as they have done in about 30 years. They’ve started the season really well with away wins at Spurs and Palace and have scored 9 goals in their two home games. Liverpool have a cracking record in this fixture but I see this as a tough game for them. It’s felt like, in the past, Everton have gone into this fixture with the mindset of being almost defeated before they’ve got on the pitch but I think they’ll be more positive this time around and go and try to win the game. An Everton double chance (win or draw) is evens with 888Sport which I think is a good bet.
I think Chelsea at around 1/2 are too short against Southampton. Southampton have won their last two and are capable. They won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last season pretty comfortably and so I’d probably leave this one from a betting point of view.
Manchester City have had a bit of a stuttering start to the season but you wouldn’t expect that to last too long with the players they have. They’re struggling a little bit upfront with missing Aguero and Jesus hasn’t been playing either so it’s been tough for them to score goals. However, I think Arsenal will give them chances due to City’s high pressing and they’ll take advantage of that. I can see a 2-0 / 3-1 win for City. It could be one to stick in your Both Teams To Score coupon.
Newcastle v Man Utd should be interesting and I think Newcastle are a decent price. Man Utd at 2/3 isn’t tempting me having lost both their home games, conceding nine goals and their win against Brighton was down to a penalty which was given after the full-time whistle should have been blown. I’m not convinced with a United win and would look at a Newcastle double chance which you can get over evens on with 888Sport.
The lunchtime kick-off between Sheffield United and Fulham is where my NAP is this week. Despite Sheff Utd being without a win so far this season and only scoring one goal, from what I’ve seen from Fulham, I can’t see them not beating them. Jack O’Connell is out for a while and will be a miss for them but I think they should have enough to get past Fulham and kick-start their season. At 11/10 they seem a good price.
I fancy Brighton against Palace on Sunday. Palace had a decent start, especially with the win against Man Utd but haven’t been so impressive in their last couple of games. Brighton are a good team which create a lot of chances and have scored eight already this season. At odds of 9/5 for the Brighton win with Betfair, I think that’s where the value lies in this game.
West Ham have had a couple of good wins which they really needed as their fixture list wasn’t looking particularly great. It was looking possible that they wouldn’t pick up a point in their first six or seven matches but 4-0 against Wolves & 3-0 away at Leicester is pretty impressive. However, I think I would go with Spurs for this match. They were unlucky to concede a late penalty against Newcastle and I think they’ll get off and running at home this season with a win on Sunday.
Villa have had a brilliant start but I think Leicester will probably bounce back from their defeat against West Ham. It’s not often that a team with that much ability losing two consecutive home games and so I’d sway towards a Leicester win.
I was really impressed with the way Leeds went out against Man City and they’ve had a great start to the season. Wolves have been a bit hit or miss having scrapped past Fulham in their last match and odds of 3/2 for a home win with Betvictor seem good. I’ll be putting them in a double this week with Spurs which is at odds of just over 3/1/

Everton to win or draw was a good bet although they were v lucky in the end as that Henderson goal was never offside
