2022 US Masters Preview & Tips

The 2022 US Masters starts on Thursday this week and is certainly one of the most wide open Tournaments of recent years.

Our Tips for the Masters will focus on trying to find three players whose odds represent good value particularly given the outstanding each way terms that are on offer from some of the leading bookmakers. We will be looking mostly at Boylesports paying 11 places , Paddy Power 10 places and William Hill 9 places all at ⅕ of the odds for our bets.

It’s really important to remember that form around Augusta is critically important as the US Masters is played here every year and the elite of the world’s golfers tend to excel around this course.

In fact eight of the last 10 Masters winners were ranked in the World’s Top 20 whilst the other two winners Patrick Reed and Hideki Matsuyama were ranked 24th and 25th respectively.

The course consistency factor is borne out by the fact that seven of the last ten Champions had posted a previous top 10 finish at Augusta.

And being in good current form is massively important as all of the last ten winners of the Masters had finished in the Top 30 in at least one of their two previous tournaments.

Driving distance counts for more at Augusta than it does at an average US PGA Tour event whereas accuracy is not quite so important.

Our 1st Masters Tip is Paul Casey currently ranked 25 in the world rankings and a very impressive third place at the Players Championship two weeks ago. Casey doesn’t win too often but is regularly placed and in contention in the big events. Casey was T26th in the 2021 Masters but finished in the Top 6 including ties 2015/2016/2017 . At odds of 50/1 for 10 places with Paddy Power, Casey should give backers a very good run for their bet.

Our next 2022 US Masters selection is South African Louis Oosthuizen who has been performing at the highest level for a long time. Oosthuizen knows what it takes to win a Major and is currently the World No.15 golfer. Recently Louis finished 30th in the Honda Open and 14th in the Phoenix Open just a week earlier. Louis was runner up in the 2012 Masters and has an amazing seven Top 30 finishes at Augusta since.

Odds of 40/1 for Oosthuizen with Paddy Power paying 10 places represents great value.

Corey Connors is our final pick to win the 2022 Masters and the in form Canadian is now in the form of his life with a 3rd place at the WGC World Matchplay last week and a strong final round 67 in this week’s Valero Open. The 30 year old will be making just his fifth Masters appearance as a pro but has finished Top 10 in the last two years !

40/1 with Paddy Power for 10 places again represents top value as Connors attempts to step up on his 2021 8th place finish.
