2022 World Cup hosts Qatar face their second opponents of the tournament on Friday 25th November as they take on 2022 AFCON winners Senegal in the lunchtime kick-off.

The match will take place at the Al Thumama Stadium which has a capacity of 40,000 and was built specifically for this year’s tournament.

Despite World Cup hosts having the advantage and often progressing further in the competition because of it, Qatar are not tipped to do well at the 2022 World Cup and are priced as 5/1 underdogs just to make it out of their group.

The Netherlands, Ecuador and their second opponents, Senegal, join Qatar in Group A and although there is only one team capable of winning the tournament in the group, Qatar have a tough task on their hands in each of their three games before the knockout stages.

Winning their first ever Africa Cup of Nations tournament in sixteen attempts will surely give Senegal a boost in this competition and the belief that they can progress out of the group. If they are to do so, this is a must-win game for them and you can be sure that they’ll be up for it come Friday afternoon.

The bookies don’t see this game as one-sided as you might expect with Qatar being priced at 13/5 for the win and Senegal at 11/10.

I can’t see either side running away with this game as neither side are prolific scorers and so I expect a relatively low-scoring game. The bookies seem to agree with Under 2.5 Goals being priced at 8/13.

Senegal proved to be relatively solid at the back throughout AFCON and given the lack of goalscoring ability of their opponents, I think that they should be able to restrict them to a minimal amount of chances. I am siding with Senegal for the win and I think the most likely scoreline is 0-1 for which odds of 6/1 are available for.
