Spain have earned their reputation as one of Europe’s elite teams, currently sitting in 8th position in the world rankings. Under the guidance of Luis de la Fuente, Spain have won 7 out of the 8 qualifying games, demonstrating their ability whilst securing a spot in the EURO 2024 with absolute ease. They have a blend of experienced players like Alvaro Morata and emerging talents such as Pedri and 17 year old Pau Cubarsi. Despite a recent 1-0 loss to Colombia and a draw against Brazil in friendlies, Spain’s track record in qualification, lifting the Nations League trophy in June, and three EURO titles under their belt, places them as top contender with the potential to add a record-breaking forth title to their collection.

Croatia

Croatia have an experienced squad and despite facing challenges in the qualifying stages with losses against Wales and Turkey, they recently secured wins in their past two games with a 4-2 results against Egypt and win on penalties against Tunisia. A concern for Croatia is an ageing squad, but what they lack in age, they make up with experience from the likes of captain Luka Modric, midfielders Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic, as well as forward Andrej Kramaric. Italy, the defending champions, had a rather sketchy end to the qualifiers with a draw against Ukraine that placed them second in the group, a loss would’ve landed them third. England aside, they’ve been reasonably solid, claiming two wins in the previous friendlies against Ecuador and Venezuela. Albania claimed their spot in the European Championship for just the second time in history after drawing against Moldova back in November. Despite losing their last two friendlies, they have undoubtedly made significant progress under coach Sylvinho, with a remarkable undefeated run of seven games in the qualifiers, highlighted by a 3-0 win against Czech Republic. So, although they are the underdog in the group, they do have potential to cause upsets and defy expectations, but unfortunately they’ve been dealt the worst card with Group B.
