Bet Builders have been around for a few years now and have become increasingly popular, especially with football punters.
It can be a little frustrating when you want to place a bet but can’t find the right market or combination bet to play.
It can often mean placing multiple bets, having to work out how much to stake, and how much you’ll win separately. However, a number of bookies are now beginning to put the power back into the hands of the punter with bet builders.
With the addition of new betting markets in football such as players to have X shots on target or to make X number of tackles, Bet Builders give punters the opportunity to combine selections in these markets into a same-game accumulator.
Bet Builders are similar to standard accumulators except that all selections are on the same sporting event.
Depending on the selections, you can often be offered big odds for Bet Builders which is one of the main appeals.
You’ll find Bet Builder tips for the World Cup, Premier League, UEFA Champions League and other competitions daily here at WhichBookie.
For those sites that don’t have an in-built bet builder tool, there are also other methods in which you can build your own wager.
Request-a-Bets via social media are hugely popular, with many of the top names having their own hashtag in which they respond to punters requests with odds. Again, it’s a simple process in which you message the bookmaker via Twitter, using their handle and hashtag and they’ll respond with a link to place your requested bet.
A growing number of bookies are now offering bet builders, with the likes of bet365, Unibet and 888sport being among the most popular, along with the Sky Bet Bet Builder which is named ‘RequestABet’.
Many bookies have on-site tools, while others give you the opportunity to send them the markets you want to play and they’ll respond with the odds they’ll offer.

You can use a bet builder in just a few easy steps. The first, of course, is by signing up to the bookmaker in which you wish to play with.
From there it’s a case of following these step-by-step instructions…
Alternatively, you can request a bet with bookmakers using Twitter. The likes of Coral’s #YourCall, William Hill’s #YourOdds and Ladbrokes’ #GetAPrice are popular for this, although there are many more names which offer this.
To place request-a-bets, follow this process…
For the most part, bookmakers already offer a wide range of markets and combination bets. They are continually studying what players want so it is likely you will find the odds you’re looking for.
However, if this isn’t the case, then it’s your opportunity to build a bet. They’re brilliant for boosting your odds, whether it be combining the Match Result market with the number of cards in a game, or even combining four different markets on the same game!
Of course, they add that extra element of risk, but the rewards of using a bet builder can be very significant indeed.
Finding the best odds for the more popular betting markets is easy as we can use the various odds comparison services which are available for free on the internet. However, these odds comparison sites do not compare odds for Request A Bets or bets which you build yourself. Therefore, it can be hard to know if you’re actually getting value on your bets.
There are a couple of options here to determine whether or not a Request A Bet has value. The first way is to simply build the same bet with a number of other bookmakers and compare the odds. Although this will not determine whether you are actually getting value, it will allow you to find the bookie offering the best odds and as such, get maximum returns should your bet win. You may find that there are big differences between the odds offered by different bookies for these types of bets which is why it is essential that you compare the odds at a number of them.
Another way to determine whether or not your bet has value is to build a bet which is already available as a set market. For example, you can head to a bookmaker and place a bet on ‘Liverpool to Win & Both Teams To Score’ without needing to build that bet yourself as there is already a market and odds for it. However, you could also build this bet by adding both ‘Liverpool to Win’ and ‘Both Teams To Score’ as a custom bet. You can then compare the odds of the two identical bets and see if there is any difference.
Let’s take a look at an example of this:
Here are the odds for ‘Liverpool to Win & BTTS’ at Betfred. The odds are 4.50 (7/2)
Below, we have created a bet using Betfred’s #PickYourPunt feature and added ‘Liverpool to Win’ as well as ‘Both Teams To Score (yes)’.
For our #PickYourPunt bet which contains exactly the same selections as the first bet, we have been offered odds of 10/3 (4.33).
To conclude, we have been offered:
So, why have we been offered lower odds when we built the bet ourself?
We don’t really have an answer to this other than that it is likely that the bookmakers have a larger margin on these type of bets and offer poorer odds.
Does this mean that these type of bets are bad value?
Well, sometimes it does. However, the purpose of Request A Bets and Build A Bets are that you can place a bet containing selections that you generally wouldn’t be able to with a standard multiple bet or with a set market. Some of these markets can be hard to determine the true odds of and so it is possible that you could be getting good value in some cases. However, if there is a set market for a bet then we would usually recommend accepting those odds rather than building the bet yourself.
You can generally use bet builders and request-a-bets for a number of different sports. Most commonly you’ll find it available for football, although with social media requests there’s nothing stopping you from asking for markets in a wide range of sports.
When it comes to football, bet365 are often considered the number one when it comes to bet builders. With them you can build your wager using the following markets…
There are slight variations for each bet builder, but you’ll generally find the above markets within the specific tools.
