Top Selections For The 2024 Grand National

It seems the Cheltenham Festival has just ended, and now another grand event in horse racing is approaching. This event is called the legendary Grand National, which happens to be the most well-known horse race globally. It’s also the one race that people who aren’t into horse racing will place a bet on. But who are going to participate as runners and riders there? And just who can win the race?

Many people will be looking for tips for the 2024 Grand National which happens on April 13 at Aintree Racecourse. This is the 176th running of this race and there are two changes from last year to be aware of. The first change is that, instead of having a maximum number forty runners in the race, this time around, there will only be thirty-four participants allowed due to safety reasons. The race’s beginning time has also been changed to an earlier hour, from 5.15 pm to 4.00 pm. Nevertheless, it is believed that none of these adjustments will influence anything, particularly in terms of betting on the Grand National at TSB.

At present, the number of entries in the 2024 Grand National stands at fifty-eight before it’s whittled down to the final thirty-four who will take to the field on April 13. The only place to start where the top tips coming out of this pack of runners is concerned is with last year’s Grand National winner, Corach Rambler. The Lucinda Russell trained horse finished a respectable third in the Cheltenham Gold Cup recently in preparation to become a dual Grand National winner, and for many, Corach Rambler is the horse to beat.

Vanillier finished second to Corach Rambler in the 2023 Grand National and will be hoping to go one better this year. Vanillier, trained by Gavin Cromwell, is the second favourite and is seen as the major threat to Corach Rambler doing the double and making it back-to-back successes. But, form so far this season has been disappointing to say the least, and Vanillier also finished second to the next horse we’re going to mention.

I Am Maximus is that horse, and he’s a horse that is the same price as Vanillier with some bookmakers. There’s no doubting his quality, but he also defeated Vanillier at Fairyhouse in the Bobbyjo Chase recently, and that has naturally entered the thinking. For these reasons, I Am Maximus has to be seen as one of the leading contenders and a potential winner of the race.

The final horse that stands out from the crowd and is in the quartet of what many would describe as the best horses in the race is Panda Boy. Panda Boy, like those mentioned above, is well-fancied and hails from the Brassill yard that had success in the Grand National with 2006 winner Numbersixvalverde. Again, this is a horse with the pedigree and a stable with the credentials.

As always, however, the Grand National is a race where the unexpected can happen. It’s such a gruelling course to navigate that even the best sometimes don’t live up to expectations. The cut from forty runners to thirty-four could prove beneficial to some, and the four horses we’ve mentioned should be there or thereabouts on April 13.
