2022 US Open Golf Tips & Predictions
Rory McIlroy’s win at the Canadian Open over the weekend and the inaugural event on the LIV Tour have helped put golf back firmly in the news ahead of this week’s US Open from Brookline, Massachusetts.
The course at Brookline which held the Ryder Cup in 1999 and the US Open in 1988 is long at almost 7300 yards but only has two par 5’s and is a Par 70.
Brookline has small, treacherous greens along with narrow fairways in places and long rough if you miss the fairway.
McIlroy is favourite with all bookmakers but at around 11/1 is now too short too back although he could well contend again this week. With Bookies offering great each way terms once again it is worth trying to find some Each Way selections that offer good value and have a realistic chance of winning.
Forty of the last forty one Majors have been won by a player inside the World Top 50 and many of them have been first time winners.
Our 3 Selections are as follows:
Cameron Smith 28/1 William Hill Each Way ⅕ Odds 9 Places
The Australian is a five time winner on the PGA Tour and won this year’s Players Championship and finished third in the Masters. Currently ranked World No.6 Smith also won earlier this year at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and is still improving. Expect a big performance this week.
Will Zalatoris 30/1 Bet365 Each Way ⅕ Odds 8 Places
The ultra consistent Zalatoris has been a revelation since joining the Tour and is now ranked World No.14 . Zalatoris was 2nd at the USPGA Tournament and finished 6th at Augusta this year after finishing runner up last year. A certain future Major winner Zalatoris is good value at 30/1.
Cameron Young 40/1 William Hill Each Way ⅕ Odds 9 Places
The 25 year old has 3 professional wins under his belt but has really rose to prominence in 2022 and finished 3rd in the recent USPGA Tournament. Now ranged at World No.31 Young has also finished runner up in this year’s in the Wells Fargo and 3rd in the RBC Heritage.
The US Open begins on Thursday at 11.45am and all four days are live on Sky Sports
