Horse Racing analyst Will Smith has had a good look at all this weekend's ante-post markets, and provides a 7/1 EW selection in the Grade 2 novices' chase at Newbury on Friday.
The Netherlands and Ecuador go head-to-head in their second of three matches played in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup. The match will take place on Friday 25th November at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The Netherlands picked up a 2-0 win against Senegal in their opening match and Ecuador beat the hosts, Qatar by the same score.
For Ecuador, Netherlands will prove to be a much sterner test but they will definitely believe this is a winnable game for them.
Victory for either side would see them guaranteed a place in the knockout stages of the tournament and so there’s a lot on the line in this fixture.

Prior to the tournament getting underway, I would have had no doubt that Netherlands would win this match comfortably. However, despite picking up a very respectable 2-0 win against Senegal in their opening match, they certainly weren’t at their best and will need to improve to ensure they pick up another 3 points.
Ecuador won comfortably against Qatar but that was mainly down to the hosts being worse than poor. They’re 17/4 for the win in this game and that’s an outcome which certainly isn’t out of the question.
I’m hoping that we haven’t seen the best from the Netherlands yet as I tipped them to do very well in this tournament. However, based on the first round of fixtures, this is a relatively evenly matched clash between the two.
Netherlands are favourites for the win but I think Ecuador have the ability to cause an upset in this game. I’m not confident enough to back either side for the win and so a low-scoring draw is my prediction.
Both sides have proven to be strong defensively of late and I’m not expecting a huge number of goals in this game. 1-1 is my pick at odds of
This isn’t a bet I’d be confident in backing. Although I do think it will be a low-scoring game, I can see both sides getting on the scoresheet.
Memphis Depay didn’t start for the Netherlands against Senegal but he did get 30 minutes of playing time having recently recovered from injury. If he starts, he’d be my selection to bag the first goal at odds of 5/1.
Draw / Draw is the most appealing selection to me at odds of 9/2 but it’s not a market I’d be betting on in this game.
I’d be confident in backing the double of Over 2.5 cards and Ecuador to receive the most cards.
