The Premier League weekend brings us to the south coast, where Brighton & Hove Albion host Leeds United at the American Express Community Stadium. With both sides eager to climb the table, this 10th-round clash has plenty riding on it. Kick-off is set for 15:00, and it’s shaping up to be a fascinating matchup between two very different teams in terms of style and confidence.
Brighton come into this one on the back of a wild 4-2 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford. It was a match full of chances and energy — Brighton had 57% possession and plenty of shots but couldn’t quite make it count. Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas were on the scoresheet, though, showing the team’s attacking depth.
Manager Fabian Hürzeler has the luxury of a fully fit squad this week, with no reported injuries or suspensions. That’s a huge boost given their busy schedule. Expect them to stick to their 4-2-3-1 formation, which has been their go-to setup this season.
Brighton’s home record remains excellent — six wins in ten matches at the Amex, and they’ve yet to lose there this campaign. Even with the setback at Old Trafford, confidence in Hürzeler’s camp remains strong.
Leeds, managed by Daniel Farke, come into this game riding the high of a much-needed 2-1 victory over West Ham United. After a tough spell that included losses to Burnley and Spurs, the Whites showed real grit and energy at Elland Road. Early goals from Brenden Aaronson and Joe Rodon sealed the win, while new signing Lucas Perri impressed in goal with a calm display under pressure.
Like Brighton, Leeds also have no injury concerns. Farke has a full squad to pick from and is expected to stick with his 4-3-3 formation, led by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Aaronson, and Noah Okafor in attack. Midfielders Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka will once again be key in linking play and breaking up opposition moves.
Leeds have been inconsistent away from home, but their win over West Ham could provide a vital spark as they look to turn their season around.
Brighton & Hove Albion (4-2-3-1)
B. Verbruggen; M. Wieffer, J.P. van Hecke, L. Dunk, M. De Cuyper; C. Baleba, Y. Ayari; F. Kadioglu, G. Rutter, Y. Minteh; D. Welbeck
Leeds United (4-3-3)
L. Perri; J. Bogle, J. Rodon, J. Bijol, J. Justin; S. Longstaff, E. Ampadu, A. Tanaka; B. Aaronson, D. Calvert-Lewin, N. Okafor
Brighton are the favourites here — and it’s easy to see why. They’ve been strong at home, they control possession, and their front four create plenty of chances. The odds of 1.64 for a home win look fair considering their record at the Amex.
Leeds, though, have rediscovered some spirit after that win over West Ham. With Aaronson in form and Calvert-Lewin always a threat, they’ll back themselves to at least find the net.
Main Tip: Brighton to Win (1.64)
Alternative Bet: Both Teams to Score – Yes
Goals Market: Over 2.5 Goals (1.59)
So, what can we expect? Brighton’s attacking movement and pressing at home should cause problems for Leeds, especially if they start slowly again. Leeds’ midfield will have to stay compact to avoid being overrun by Baleba and Ayari.
That said, Leeds have shown they can hit early — just ask West Ham. If Aaronson finds pockets of space and Calvert-Lewin stays sharp, they can trouble Brighton’s backline. But over the course of 90 minutes, Brighton’s balance, width, and home advantage should make the difference.
Prediction: Brighton to edge it 2-0, controlling most of the game but facing a few nervy moments.
Match Prediction: Brighton to win. Bet with bet365.
Brighton’s ability to dominate possession and create high-quality chances should eventually pay off. Leeds may grab one if they can replicate their quick-start energy from the West Ham match, but Brighton’s structure looks too solid to crumble easily.
Correct Score Prediction: Brighton 2-0 Leeds. Bet with bet365.
If you’re betting on the goal markets, this one looks like a strong Over 2.5 Goals candidate. Brighton’s last six games have averaged 4.17 goals per match, and both sides like to attack. Leeds’ defensive frailties could open the door for another open, high-scoring affair.
Recommended Market: Over 2.5 Goals
Alternative: Brighton to Score in Both Halves
Over/Under Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Here’s a simple Bet Builder idea that makes sense based on both sides’ trends:
That combination plays into Brighton’s attacking strengths while acknowledging Leeds’ tendency to concede on the road.
Bet Builder Tip: Brighton to Win, Over 2.5 Goals, and Danny Welbeck to Score Anytime. Bet with bet365.
