Wednesday night football in the Championship, and it’s QPR welcoming Oxford United to Loftus Road. The Hoops are starting to find some form at home, while Oxford are still trying to adjust to the grind of second-tier football.
QPR fans have reasons to be optimistic – their recent home performances have been strong. Oxford, though, arrive with one of the worst defensive records in the league. So, who takes the points in West London? Let’s dig in.
QPR boss Martí Cifuentes has a few decisions to make. Richard Kone should lead the line, supported by Koki Saito and Harvey Vale. Nicolas Madsen has been a real bright spark in midfield and is expected to start again.
The back four still needs more stability, especially after that heavy defeat at Coventry in August, but Paul Nardi keeps his place in goal. At home, though, they look far more solid – three wins in their last four at Loftus Road tells its own story.
Oxford boss Des Buckingham will be desperate for a reaction after a flat showing against Sheffield United. Jamie Cumming starts in goal, with Michal Helik and Sam Long at centre-back. Cameron Brannagan is the heartbeat of their midfield, while Nik Prelec and Will Lankshear are likely to lead the attack.
The big concern? Their defence. Seventeen goals conceded in seven games paints the picture. And that 6-0 defeat at Brighton a few weeks ago still lingers in the background. Oxford will need to be compact and organised – otherwise, it could be another long night.
QPR (4-2-3-1): Nardi; Dunne, Morrison, Mbengue, Norrington-Davies; Varane, Madsen; Vale, Burrell, Saito; Kone.
Oxford (4-4-2): Cumming; Spencer, Helik, Long, Currie; Placheta, De Keersmaecker, Brannagan, Krastev; Prelec, Lankshear.
Here’s what I think… this game has goals written all over it. QPR are scoring freely at Loftus Road, while Oxford can’t keep clean sheets on the road.
A few betting angles worth looking at:
QPR should control the tempo, use their wide players to stretch Oxford, and create chances. Oxford might have moments, especially on the counter, but it feels like QPR’s energy at home will overwhelm them.
Match Prediction: QPR to win. Bet with bet365.
I’m leaning towards a 3-1 QPR win. Enough attacking firepower to score multiple times, but that defence still looks a little too leaky to keep a clean sheet.
Correct Score Prediction: QPR 3-1 Oxford United. Bet with bet365.
The stats say goals. QPR have scored in every home game since August, and Oxford have conceded in every league game this season. Over 2.5 goals feels nailed on, and if you want to push it, over 3.5 goals has value too.
Over/Under Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Here’s a QPR vs Oxford Bet Builder I like:
That’s your Loftus Road special – and it fits perfectly with how this game should play out.
Bet Builder Tip: QPR to win, BTTS Yes, Over 2.5 Goals, Richard Kone anytime scorer. Bet with bet365.

QPR are favourites, especially with their strong home form and Oxford’s poor away record.
A 2-0 or 3-1 QPR win looks the most likely outcome.
