The Champions League returns, and this one’s got all the makings of a thriller. Eintracht Frankfurt welcome Liverpool to a packed Deutsche Bank Park, and both sides have plenty to prove.
Liverpool head into this after a solid start to their European campaign but with a few defensive worries. Frankfurt, on the other hand, are full of energy and goals. They’ve been smashing them in for fun in the Bundesliga, and their home form makes them a real handful.
You can just feel it — this is one of those matches where anything can happen.
The Reds have a few problems to sort out. Alisson is still sidelined, which means their backup keeper gets another big night under the lights. Giovanni Leoni is out long-term with an ACL injury, and Stefan Bajcetic hasn’t recovered from his hamstring issue yet.
The good news? Federico Chiesa is back in contention, and Hugo Ekitike – who, fun fact, used to play for Frankfurt – is expected to lead the line again. He’s still settling in, but you can tell the potential is there.

Frankfurt are flying high after a blistering few weeks. They’ve scored over 35 goals in their last six games — crazy numbers. Their manager, Dino Toppmöller, has built a fearless young squad that presses high and attacks fast.
Jonathan Burkardt has been their standout man with goals and assists in almost every game. Rasmus Kristensen might make the squad after recovering from a muscle knock, but Jessic Ngankam remains a long-term absentee.
Expected Frankfurt lineup (4-3-3):
Zetterer; Brown, Theate, Koch, Collins; Knauff, Uzun, Skhiri; Chaibi, Doan, Burkardt.
There are goals written all over this one. Frankfurt score a ton but also leave gaps at the back, and Liverpool know exactly how to punish that.
Both sides love attacking football, and both struggle to keep clean sheets lately. Liverpool haven’t had one in their last four matches, and Frankfurt’s defence looks shaky when pressed. So yeah — expect end-to-end football and plenty of chances.

If you fancy a longer shot, back Over 3.5 goals. Frankfurt have seen that land in nearly every recent match. And honestly, when you have Salah and Burkardt on the pitch, that feels like easy money.
So, how does this play out? Well, Liverpool’s class and experience should shine through, but Frankfurt won’t roll over. The German side will push forward, especially at home, and that’ll open spaces for Liverpool’s attack.
I can see Salah doing what he does best, maybe Ekitike grabbing one too, but Frankfurt will get on the board. They’re just too lively not to.
