WhichBookie racing analyst Andrew Blair White provides a preview and betting tips for races at Roscommon on Monday 23rd May.
Ffos Las Racecourse is located in Wales and was built relatively recently in 2009 making it the first new National Hunt racecourse to be built in the UK for 80 years and boasted a sell-out crowd of 10,000 for its first meeting.
Further additions are planned to improve this new racecourse including the development of Hotel & Leisure Facilities, an Equestrian Centre, a Point-to-Point Racecourse Training Establishment and more.
The course hosts both flat and National Hunt races with the most prominent being the Welsh Champion Hurdle which is held in October.
The Ffos Las course is left-handed and oval in shape with a distance of around 12 furlongs around.
The jumps track is flat and has a home straight of around half a mile and features quite stiff fences.
The straight course can host races of up to six furlongs in distance.
The National Hunt handicap hurdle race, the Welsh Champion Hurdle, is by far the most notable race at Ffos Las. The race was originally run at Chepstow Racecourse but after being removed from the calendar in 2003, was resurrected at Ffos Las seven years later in 2010. It takes place in October and is open to horses aged four and over who run over a distance of two miles.
