Another Sunday clash in the Premier League, and this one has plenty riding on it. Aston Villa are back at Villa Park after a confident 3-1 win over Fulham, while Burnley arrive with more questions than answers after being ripped apart by Manchester City. Villa are unbeaten against Burnley in their last four league meetings, but you know how this league works — nothing is ever guaranteed.
So, will Villa keep their momentum rolling, or can Burnley spring a surprise? Let’s dig in.
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has some selection headaches. Youri Tielemans is out, Amadou Onana is still sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Ross Barkley won’t feature either. Still, Villa have enough depth to cope. Ollie Watkins looks sharp, John McGinn is everywhere in midfield, and Leon Bailey plus Moussa Diaby offer real pace out wide.
Burnley, meanwhile, have their own problems. Zeki Amdouni is ruled out with a cruciate ligament injury, while Bashir Humphreys misses out with a thigh issue. That leaves Scott Parker short of options at both ends of the pitch. Expect them to set up defensively, probably in a five-at-the-back system, and look to hit Villa on the counter.
Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; McGinn, Bogarde; Bailey, Rogers, Elliott; Watkins.
Burnley (5-4-1): Dubravka; Walker, Laurent, Ekdal, Estève, Hartman; Tchaouna, Luís, Cullen, Anthony; Foster.
Villa are creating chances for fun at home, and Watkins is in the kind of form where he only needs half a sniff. Burnley, though, usually find a way to get on the scoresheet — even if their defending is all over the place.
Some betting angles worth a look:
Villa will dominate the ball, especially at home. They’ll push Burnley deep and pepper them with crosses and quick transitions. Burnley might nick one on the break — Jaidon Anthony’s pace and Lyle Foster’s movement are their best weapons — but over the full 90, Villa just look too strong.
Match Prediction: Aston Villa to win. Bet with bet365.
I’m leaning towards the same scoreline Villa had against Fulham. Plenty of attacking quality, but maybe not a clean sheet.
Correct Score Prediction: Aston Villa 3-1 Burnley. Bet with bet365.
History tells us this fixture usually brings goals. The last six head-to-heads produced 20 goals, with an average of over three per game. Both teams’ recent form backs that up — Villa score freely at home, while Burnley concede too many.
Over/Under Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Here’s a combo that makes sense for Sunday:
That’s your attacking football special — and it lines up perfectly with how these two play.
Bet Builder Tip: Aston Villa to Win, BTTS Yes, Watkins Anytime Scorer & Over 2.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.

Aston Villa look stronger and should win at home. Burnley’s poor away record makes Villa heavy favourites.
A 3-1 win for Villa looks likely, but expect chances at both ends.
