Saturday night football under the lights in London. Chelsea host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, and it’s shaping up to be one of the standout fixtures of matchday 7. Both sides know how to score goals, both have defensive questions, and the crowd will be right on top of it. So, who takes control of this heavyweight clash? Let’s dig in.
Chelsea come into this one nursing a growing injury list. Cole Palmer (groin), Wesley Fofana (concussion), Levi Colwill (ACL), Tosin Adarabioyo (calf), and Liam Delap (hamstring) are all unavailable. That’s a serious chunk of their first team missing. Enzo Maresca still has plenty of options though. Expect Robert Sánchez in goal, Reece James at right-back, Cucurella at left-back, and a midfield duo of Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández. João Pedro should lead the line with Pedro Neto and Estevão buzzing around him.
Liverpool aren’t at full strength either, but their injuries are less damaging. Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring) and Giovanni Leoni (cruciate ligament) remain sidelined. Arne Slot is likely to stick with the 4-2-3-1. Alisson in goal, Konaté and Van Dijk marshalling the defence, Kerkez and Bradley as full-backs, Mac Allister and Gravenberch in midfield, and a front four of Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz, and Ekitike. Not bad, right?
Chelsea: Sánchez; James, Acheampong, Hato, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernández; Estevão, Neto, Pedro Neto; João Pedro.
Liverpool: Alisson; Bradley, Konaté, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Ekitike.
Both sides look sharp in attack but vulnerable at the back. Chelsea have conceded 11 in their last six matches, while Liverpool haven’t kept many clean sheets either.
The stats lean heavily towards Liverpool. They’ve won 8 of their last 10 games, scoring 3.6 goals per match on average. Chelsea, meanwhile, are inconsistent — 5 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws from their last 10. Add to that Liverpool’s extra firepower, and they look like the smarter pick.
But don’t rule out Chelsea completely. They beat Liverpool 3-1 in May at this very ground, and they haven’t lost to the Reds at home in four straight league meetings. Stamford Bridge hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Liverpool.
So, how does this one play out? Chelsea will have spells of pressure, but with their backline looking shaky, it’s tough to see them keeping Liverpool quiet for 90 minutes. Salah, Wirtz, and Szoboszlai will test them all night long.
Liverpool will dominate possession and chances, but Chelsea’s home crowd can lift them into scoring at least once. João Pedro and Enzo Fernández will be key if they’re going to hurt the Reds.
Match Prediction: Liverpool to win. Bet with bet365.
I’m leaning toward a 2-1 Liverpool win. Chelsea’s attacking quality means they’ll score, but Liverpool’s form and depth should be enough to edge it.
Correct Score Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool. Bet with bet365.
The numbers are clear. Chelsea’s defence is leaky, Liverpool are scoring for fun, and both teams have a recent history of high-scoring games. Over 2.5 feels safe, but if you want something juicier, over 3.5 goals is a real option.
Over/Under Prediction: Over 3.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Here’s a Chelsea vs Liverpool Bet Builder I like for Saturday night:
That combo pretty much sums up how I see it going — action at both ends, Liverpool just edging it, and Salah finding the net.
Bet Builder Tip: Liverpool to win, BTTS Yes, Over 2.5 Goals, and Mohamed Salah anytime scorer. Bet with bet365.

Liverpool are in better form and have more firepower. They’re favorites to win, but Chelsea’s home record keeps things interesting.
Most likely a tight game. My prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea.
Yes. Both teams have been scoring regularly, and neither defence looks solid.
Keep an eye on Enzo Fernández and João Pedro for Chelsea, and Salah plus Wirtz for Liverpool.
