Another London derby, and it’s a spicy one. West Ham head across the capital to take on Tottenham under the Saturday evening lights. These two don’t need much extra motivation, but bragging rights are always on the line when they meet.
West Ham arrive with their form all over the place. They’ve taken heavy defeats to Sunderland and Chelsea, but then stunned Nottingham Forest with a late comeback that will be remembered for a while. Spurs, on the other hand, started the season brightly with wins over Burnley and Manchester City, but that shock home loss to Bournemouth before the break showed their defence isn’t bulletproof.
So, who takes control this time? Let’s dive in.
West Ham
Graham Potter might hand debuts to Soungoutou Magassa, Dimitri Colau, and Igor Julio, who arrived on loan from Brighton. George Earthy could also return after an ankle issue, while Luis Guilherme remains out with a collarbone injury. Crysencio Summerville is a doubt with a hamstring knock. The good news? Lucas Paquetá looks fired up, and he’s scored in three straight games.
Tottenham
Thomas Frank has plenty of options up front. Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani are in line for debuts, while Dominic Solanke and Yves Bissouma are back in the squad. But it’s not all rosy – James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Radu Dragusin are long-term absentees. Their creativity, especially from Maddison, will be missed.
Likely Lineups
West Ham (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Walker-Peters, Kilman, Mavropanos, Diouf; Soucek, Ward-Prowse; Bowen, Paquetá, Fernandes; Füllkrug.
Tottenham (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Van de Ven, Romero, Spence; Palhinha, Bentancur, Sarr; Johnson, Richarlison, Kudus.
Spurs have more attacking quality, but their defence can be shaky. West Ham’s home record hasn’t been great – no wins in their last six – but they do love making life awkward for Tottenham. Remember, three of the last five clashes at the London Stadium ended 1-1.
Betting angles worth a look:
Spurs will want to control the tempo, using Kudus and Richarlison to stretch West Ham’s back line. West Ham will rely heavily on Paquetá’s creativity and Bowen’s runs. If they get it right, they can trouble Spurs – but across 90 minutes, Tottenham’s sharper attack should make the difference.
Match Prediction: Tottenham to win. Bet with bet365.
I’m leaning towards a 2-1 win for Spurs. Enough firepower up front to edge it, but don’t be shocked if West Ham grab one themselves.
Correct Score Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Tottenham. Bet with bet365.
The numbers point to goals. Tottenham have scored at least twice in four of their last six league wins, while West Ham’s defence has been leaking. Over 2.5 goals feels safe, but if you fancy a risk, over 3.5 is in play.
Over/Under Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Here’s a bet builder combo that makes sense for this derby:

Tottenham have the stronger form and squad depth right now, so they’re the slight favourites.
I’m going for 2-1 to Tottenham, but don’t rule out another 1-1 draw—it’s happened a lot recently.
The match will be shown live on Sky Sports in the UK on Saturday, September 13th, at 5:30pm.
West Ham could be without George Earthy and Crysencio Summerville, while Spurs are missing James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, and Dejan Kulusevski.
