Newton Abbot Racecourse is located in Devon and was established in 1866. The Queen Mother opened the main grandstand when it was built in 1969.
It’s a jumps course but was also previously used for greyhound racing. Although it is a smaller course than Exeter Racecourse which is situated just a few miles down the road, it is still a popular destination for racegoers from the area and further afield.

Newton Abbot Feature Races
The Listed Lord Mildmay Memorial Handicap Chase is the most notable race held at Newton Abbot and takes place annually in August and is run over two miles and five and a half furlongs.
Notable winners of the Lord Mildmay Memorial Handicap Chase are Take The Stand who won the race 2004 and went on to finish second in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, along with Snoopy Loopy who won in 2008 and went on to win the Haydock Betfair Lancashire Chase. However, Kings Brook has won the race the most times with two victories.
