West Ham United are one of just 10 teams which have played more than 300 games in the Premier League. They’ve now been relegated from the top-flight three times and have had several up & down periods throughout the club’s history.
West Ham’s last major trophy was winning the FA Cup back in 1980 but they also won the Intertoto Cup in 1999. Seven managers have taken charge of the club since 2015, including a double stint from David Moyes.
With Nuno Espirito Santo reportedly close to losing his job on the back of the club’s relegation in May 2026, fans are now looking to see who might replace him.
Nuno Espirito Santo took over West Ham on September 27, 2025 after the sacking of Graham Potter. He came in on a three-year contract at a time when West Ham were second from bottom in the Premier League and had just been knocked out of the League Cup by Wolves.
Nuno arrived off the back of a messy departure from Nottingham Forest after a public fallout with owner Evangelos Marinakis. This was despite leading Forest to 7th place in the table to secure Europa League qualification the previous season.
While the first few months under Nuno showed signs of life by tightening the defense and getting out of the relegation zone, the turnaround wasn’t long lasting. They were neck and neck with Tottenham to see who would go down, with West Ham ultimately dropping down to the Championship for the first time since 2012.
Nuno is now reportedly set to meet with the club ownership, with speculation that he might be relieved of his role in the coming days.
Nuno Espirito Santo is one of the favourites for the sack race given the club’s relegaiton and a split board.
If Nuno was to be sacked, who could replace him?
We’ve listed the most likely contenders below with the latest odds for the next West Ham manager.

With Nuno’s job in the balance, Scott Parker is the current favourite in the next West Ham manager odds market. He’s managed to earn promotion from the Championship on three occasions, with Fulham in 2020, Bournemouth in 2022, and Burnley in 2025. Only Steve Bruce can boast a more impressive record in this manner. Parker is also a former West Ham player, with former teammate and current sporting director Mark Noble reportedly enthusiastic about a reunion.
Slaven Bilic is second in the reckoning. He was a popular player at the club during the late 1990s and he led the club to a 7th-place finish as manager in 2015. He hasn’t worked since leaving Saudi side Al-Fateh in 2024. The 57-year-old has Championship promotion experience, leading West Brom up in 2019/2020.
Gary O’Neil is third on the list. The current Strasbourg manager led his side to eighth in Ligue 1 after taking over from Liam Rosenior in January and got to the Conference League semi-final. He has some fans at West Ham, having played for the club between 2007 and 2013, with the only doubt being about his pragmatic style not being well-suited for Championship football.
