The Traitors is a reality TV series that premiered on BBC One in November 2022. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the show is based on the Dutch series De Verraders and has become one of the BBC’s most successful reality shows. If you’re looking to bet on The Traitors, then it’s likely that you know how the show works. However, for all newbies to the series, here’s a brief explanation of what it’s all about…
Set in a Scottish castle, the game begins with a group of 25 contestants (18 in the celebrity version) who are secretly assigned as either a “Faithful” or a “Traitor.” The Traitors aim to eliminate Faithful’s without being detected, while the Faithful hope to identify and evict the Traitors.
Each day features missions that add money to the prize fund, which can reach up to £120,000. At night, the Traitors secretly “murder” a Faithful player, and during the day, all players participate in a Round Table discussion to vote out a suspected Traitor. If all Traitors are eliminated, the remaining Faithfuls share the prize. If any Traitors remain, they claim the entire prize pot.
Less than two months after Alan Carr was declared the winner of Celebrity Traitors, a new series is underway for 2026.
The show will begin on New Year’s Day 2026 with the first episode introducing the 22 contestants and the initial traitors being chosen.
There will be a new twist in the 2026 edition of The Traitors with an additional traitor being selected that is unknown to all, including the faithful’s, other traitors, and even the public!
22 contestants have been confirmed for the show which got underway at the beginning of 2026.
