What is Cash Out?
Cash Out allows you to end your bet early before it has settled. It’s available on single and multiple bets and across a range of sports, including horse racing.
Let’s say that you have placed a bet on Man Utd to beat Arsenal and at half time Man Utd lead 1-0. However, their defence is looking a little shaky and you’re not fully confident that they’ll hold onto their lead. You may wish to cash out your bet at this point which will mean that you are guaranteed a return on your bet compared to if your bet loses resulting in you losing money.
Another example of when you may wish to use cash out is to cut your losses. Let’s say that Man Utd were 1-0 down at half time and are not looking like they’re going to get a goal. Instead of losing your entire stake, you could choose to cash out your bet to receive some of your initial stake back.
Which Sports Do Betfred Offer Cash Out On?
Cash out is available on various sports at Betfred including football, golf and horse racing. Not all markets are available for cash out but Betfred make it easy for you to determine which ones are before you place your bet. If cash out is available for a specific market, the cash out icon will be displayed. This is a red and white circle as shown in the image below. If this icon isn’t displayed alongside the corresponding market, you will not be able to cash out your bet. Betfred free bets are also not available to cash out.

Can I Cash Out The Betfred Free Bet?
If you have placed a bet using the free bet that you get when you sign up or from another Betfred promotion, it will not be eligible for cash out. Only bets placed with cash can be cashed out.
Why Can’t I Cash Out?
If you’re unable to cash out one of your bets, it may be because of one of the following reasons.
- Your bet is placed on a sport or market which is not eligible for cash out
- The market which your bet is placed on is suspended. This happens when there is a major incident such as a red card or a goal in a football match. The bookmaker needs to determine new odds and suspends the market until they have done so. A market may also be suspended towards the end of the event.
- You have used a free bet as your stake.
- The event you have bet on has finished.
