If you’re interested in spread betting then SportingIndex is definitely one of the main sites to look at. As well as being able to bet on spreads, customers can also bet on fixed odds markets using the same account which is perfect for both dedicated and casual spread bettors.

Spreadex is the main competition to SportingIndex and so we would recommend taking a look at both of them if you haven’t already.

If you know what spread betting is and how it works, you can skip the section below to read the rest of the SportingIndex review. However, if you would like to learn more about spread betting, read on.

How Does Spread Betting Work?

Spread betting works differently to standard fixed odds betting which you will be used to if you have bet with a bookmaker before. With spread betting, you have the option to BUY and SELL. Although spread betting may be new to you, it’s not actually that difficult to get to grips with once you get used to it and it allows you to bet in an entirely different way.

So, how does spread betting work?

The ‘Spread’ is a range in which it is believed the result will be of a given market. For example, the spread of the total number of goals to be scored in the Man Utd v Arsenal match may be 2.8 – 3.0. You then have the choice to either BUY or SELL.

  • BUY When you think the result will exceed the range.
  • SELL when you think the result will fall short of the range.

For example, you would BUY if you think the total number of goals will be over 3 and sell if you think it will be a low scoring game.

You can work out your profit or loss using the following formula:

(Settled Price – Buy Price) x Stake

In this case, the settled price is the total number of goals scored in the match. So, if we say that the match ended 3-3, the settled price would be 6.

Using £10 stakes, the outcome would be:

(6 – 3) x 10 = £30 Profit

As you can see, the total number of goals determines how much profit we make. If we chose to BUY, more goals = more profit. We chose to BUY as we thought there would be a lot of goals, therefore, with spread betting, you are rewarded more the more right you are.

Sporting Index Website

The Sporting Index website looks similar to a traditional bookmaker website with the main difference being that instead of standard fixed odds markets, spread markets are displayed. There is a fixed odds section of the site which can be accessed by clicking on ‘ODDS’ at the top of the page.

Navigation to sporting events is easy via the list of sports in the nav bar where you can then filter the results to find the event you’re looking for and browse the available markets.

Sporting Index Fixed Odds Betting

As mentioned above, fixed odds are available at Sporting Index by clicking on the ‘ODDS’ link. This opens up a bookmaker-style section of the site which has a different layout and style but everything is extremely easy to find with all of the sports listed along the top of the page with both pre-match and in-play fixed odds markets available.

Sporting Index have a separate welcome offer for new fixed odds betting customers which can be seen below.

Sports & Markets

The selection of sports which are available to bet on at Sporting Index may not be as vast as at a bookmaker site but there is a sufficient amount.

In total, there are 20 different sports available with all of the main ones covered such as Football, Horse Racing, Basketball, Baseball, Golf, Ice Hockey, Tennis and more. Sporting Index rival SpreadEx has slightly more available sports with a total of 24 but the additional sports are generally less popular ones such as Handball, Volleyball, Politics and E-Sports.

There is an impressive selection of both pre-match and in-play spread markets available at Sporting Index which differ from those which you’d find at a traditional bookmaker. At Sporting Index, you can bet on the spread for markets such as a prediction on the aggregate minutes of each goal scored by a special player. eg if a player scored in the 28th minute and the 84th minute, the total minutes would be 112.

Below is a list of sports available to bet on at Sporting Index.

Sporting Index App

A Sporting Index app is available for both Android and iOS devices and can be downloaded for free from the app stores. The app allows you to place both spread bets and fixed odds bets when on the move as well as access all areas of the site and your account.

As well as being able to bet wherever you are, a benefit of using the SportingIndex app is that you can log into your account within seconds using either fingerprint ID or facial recognition without the need for any passwords.

The app works great but users who don’t have it can still bet on the move by accessing the Sporting Index website via a mobile browser. The website is fully mobile optimised which means that all areas of the site work perfectly across all mobile devices.

Sporting Index Deposits & Withdrawals

One disadvantage of using SpreadEx is that they have a limited number of banking options. However, as well as Debit Cards and Bank Transfers, Sporting Index allows customers to deposit and withdraw using some e-wallets such as Neteller and Skrill which are nice options to have.

Withdrawals to bank accounts generally take around 2-5 days with e-wallet withdrawals being the quicker option reaching accounts within 24 hours.

MethodMinimum DepositWithdrawal Time
Debit Cards£102-5 Days
Bank Transfer£103-5 Days
Neteller£10Up to 24 Hours
Skrill£10Up to 24 Hours

Sporting Index Customer Support

If you need to get in touch with the Sporting Index team, there are several ways to do so. Live chat, which is available between the hours of 8am – 11pm, is the most popular option and perfect for when you need a quick answer. Email support is also available 7 days a week ([email protected]) along with telephone support by calling 08000 96 96 07 (+44 207 840 4050 from outside the UK). If you wish, you can also ask questions via Twitter by simply including ‘@AskSPIN’ in your Tweet!

Conclusion

Sporting Index have been around for coming up to two decades and have built a strong reputation as one of the leading online spread betting sites. They offer spread betting, as well as fixed odds betting, across a good range of sports and markets and perfect for anyone looking to delve into the world of spread betting with a reputable company.
