WhichBookie racing analyst Andrew Blair White provides a preview and betting tips for races at Limerick on Friday 27th May.
Ascot Racecourse is situated in the county of Berkshire and hosts 13 of Britain’s 36 annual Flat Group 1 horse races along with three Grade 1 Jumps races over 26 days of racing throughout the year.
Ascot has close associations with the Royal Family with the 179 ache course being leased from the Crown Estate and founded by Queen Anne in 1711.
In 2006, the New Ascot Grandstand was erected and opened by her Majesty the Queen. This is just one of several renovation projects carried out and scheduled at the prestigious racecourse to ensure standards are kept to the highest level possible.
The course accounts for 10% of all UK racegoers by attracting around 600,000 people annually.
Ascot hosts both flat and jumps racing throughout the year.
The flat course at Ascot is right-handed and triangular-shaped.
The course is fourteen furlongs around and has a two and a half furlong run-in.
Races between five and seven furlongs are run on the straight mile course.
The National Hunt course is also right-handed and reopened after major redevelopment in 2006/07. One of the improvements was with the drainage of the course which means that conditions rarely get testing.
Good jumpers tend to do well at the course due to the stiff fences.
