This page has today's Haydock race card, live Haydock racing results, upcoming fixtures and our Haydock racing tips, plus an in-depth guide to one of the North West's premier dual-purpose tracks.
Set in parkland at Newton-le-Willows, between Liverpool and Manchester and just off the M6, the course races on around 30 days a year. Flat racing in spring and summer includes the Group 1 Sprint Cup, and the winter jumps programme features the Grade 1 Betfair Chase.
The Haydock race card today shows every runner and rider, the draw for Flat races, recent form, the latest odds and race times. It updates from final declarations right up to the off, so non-runners, going changes and any inspection news show as soon as they're announced. Haydock race results are added as each race is settled, and tomorrow's Haydock race card appears once declarations close.
The Flat season at Haydock ends in mid-October, and from November the focus switches to jump racing, with three big Saturday cards before the end of the year. Here are the remaining Haydock races for 2026:
| Date | Day | Meeting | Type |

If you're looking for Haydock racing tips for today, here are some general tips to keep in mind for the track:
The Haydock race course is a flat, left-handed oval of about a mile and five furlongs, with a slight rise on the four-and-a-half-furlong run-in. Sprints of up to six furlongs are run on a straight course, where runners usually race down the centre of the track.
For jump racing, Haydock uses portable fences and hurdles. Since the 2013/14 season, chases have been run on the outer Flat course rather than the old jumps track. The winter programme rewards stamina, while the May jumps meeting tends to favour speed and prominent racers.
On the straight sprint course, runners usually race down the middle, so the draw isn't usually a major factor. In longer races, the field tends to race on the far rail in the straight. On soft ground, though, runners often move towards the stands' side, and switching sides on the back straight can help in staying races. The old strong bias towards the stands' rail on soft ground is less pronounced than it used to be.
Haydock's going is usually good or good to firm in summer, while in winter it's often soft or heavy, so check the latest going update and weather forecast before racing.
In May 2026, a hole opened up on the outer course during racing, and the remaining races on the round course that day had to be abandoned. Several fixtures were then cancelled or moved while the racecourse investigated. Some races went to Nottingham, and the Lancashire Oaks and Old Newton Cup were run at Newmarket's July Course.
The investigation, which used ground-penetrating radar across the whole course, found a fissure in the soil at bedrock level. The early theory that the problem was linked to drainage was ruled out, and although the area has a mining history, there isn't necessarily a mine beneath the hole. Haydock lost eight fixtures in all before racing returned on the inner course in August 2026. Part of the outer course won't be used again until spring 2027, and the course now carries out at least two formal ground inspections a year.
Haydock stages important races in both codes:
Racing took place at Newton for many years before Haydock Park itself opened in 1899. Early on, the course was shaped by Sydney Sandon, who served as its secretary, chairman and managing director. Haydock was named Racecourse of the Year in 1998 and 2000, and it's now owned by Jockey Club Racecourses. It even has its own airstrip, which can be used by light aircraft.
Over the last three seasons, Dan Skelton has led the jumps trainers at Haydock, with 11 hurdle winners and six chase winners. William Haggas (27 winners) and Ed Walker (23) are the leading Flat trainers, and David O'Meara also has a strong record.
Tom Marquand has ridden 20 Flat winners at Haydock in that time, more than any other jockey. Over jumps, Harry Skelton is the leading hurdles rider, while Danny McMenamin has ridden the most chase winners. Source: At The Races.
Haydock Park Racecourse is in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, WA12 0HQ, about a mile from Junction 23 of the M6. Parking is free, with more than 1,000 spaces available on a first come, first served basis. Newton-le-Willows station has trains from Manchester and Liverpool, and a shuttle bus runs from the station to the course for £3 single or £5 return on race days, except for music nights.
There's no strict dress code at Haydock races. Smart outfits and more relaxed clothes, such as jeans and a sweatshirt, are both fine. Fancy dress is only allowed in the Grandstand and Paddock, and team kits aren't permitted. There are several hotels near Haydock Park, which makes it easy to stay over for the bigger meetings and music nights.
Haydock hosts some of the biggest music nights after racing in the country. Becky Hill headlined a show in August 2025, and Tom Grennan's 2026 concert went ahead at Haydock even though that day's racing had to be moved to Nottingham. Olly Murs is lined up for a live-after-racing show in June 2027.
Every Haydock meeting is shown live on Racing TV, and the bigger days, such as Betfair Chase Day and Sprint Cup Day, are also shown on ITV Racing. Many bookmakers also offer free live streams to customers who have a funded account or have placed a bet.
All the major bookmakers price up every Haydock race. Look for Best Odds Guaranteed, extra places on the big handicaps, and early prices on the Betfair Chase, which often has a big influence on the King George and Cheltenham Gold Cup markets.
Check the fixtures table above. If there's racing at Haydock today, the race card and race times appear at the top of this page.

Any inspection or abandonment at Haydock is shown on this page as soon as it's announced. In winter, heavy rain and frost are the most common reasons for meetings to be lost.
Haydock is in the North West, so the weather can change quickly. Check the latest forecast and official going report on race day, and bring layers and an umbrella, as much of the course is uncovered.
