This page has today's Ludlow race card, live Ludlow racing results, the full fixture list and our Ludlow racing tips, along with a complete guide to one of the oldest and most traditional jumps tracks in Britain.
The course sits in open Shropshire countryside at Bromfield, two miles north of the town, with Clee Hill in the distance and a golf course in the middle of the track. It's a sharp, right-handed jumps track with easy fences, and quick, accurate jumpers do best.
Racing runs from October to May, and the course is still run by a members' club, Ludlow Race Club Ltd, so it keeps a friendly, old-fashioned feel that racegoers love.
The Ludlow race card today shows every runner and rider, recent form, weights, the latest odds and race times. It updates from final declarations right up to the off, so non-runners, jockey changes and going updates appear as soon as they're announced. Tomorrow's Ludlow race card is added once declarations close.
Ludlow racing results are added as each race is settled, with winners, starting prices and payouts. Results from earlier meetings stay available, so you can check recent course form. If a meeting is called off because of frost or waterlogging, you'll see that here as well.

If you're looking for Ludlow racing tips for today, here are some general tips to keep in mind for the track:
The Ludlow race course is a sharp, right-handed oval in open countryside. The chase course is just over a mile and three furlongs round, with nine fences. This includes six plain fences, two open ditches and a water jump in front of the stands. The run-in from the last fence is only about 250 yards.
The hurdles track runs on the outside of the chase course, so it's a little longer, at just over a mile and a half, with easier turns. There are slight undulations, but they rarely bother long-striding horses. Six flights of hurdles are jumped per circuit.
Ludlow is unusual in that public roads cross the track in several places. The B4365 crosses at three points, and traffic is stopped while racing is on.
Ground staff lay matting over the road crossings before each meeting. Ludlow Golf Club, founded in 1889, occupies the land inside the track.
Because the chase course is tight and the run-in short, horses that race prominently and jump well tend to have an advantage. Hold-up horses need to be ridden with care, since there isn't much room to make up ground after the last.
The course has its own reservoir and borehole, and ground staff water it during dry spells, aiming for good to firm going. Early-season and spring cards are often on good ground, while winter meetings can be softer.
Ludlow races are sometimes cancelled because of frost or waterlogging in midwinter, so check the going report before you travel.
The Forbra Gold Cup is Ludlow's feature race, a handicap chase over about three miles, run in late February. It honours Forbra, the 50/1 Grand National winner of 1932, whose owner was based in Ludlow.
In 2026, it went to Aboutdamntime (12/1) for trainers Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero and jockey Craig Nichol.
Ludlow has also been an early stepping stone for top jumpers. Punjabi, the 2009 Champion Hurdler, won at Ludlow, as did Taranis, who went on to win the 2007 Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham, and Tamarinbleu, who won the 2008 Victor Chandler Chase.
Ladies Day is usually held at the May Sunday fixture near the end of the season. It has best-dressed and best-hat competitions and an after-party in the Windsor Marquee, and it's one of the busiest days of the year.
The Tanners Race Day in mid-December is Ludlow's Christmas meeting, and it's another of the most popular fixtures, with lunch packages in the Windsor Marquee. Ludlow also holds Farmers Day in November and sponsored days such as the Ludlow Brewery Raceday.
Tradition has it that soldiers from Ludlow Castle used the site, known as the Old Field, for archery and to race their horses in the 14th century. Records show the course existed by 1729, and it was used for Flat racing before jump racing began in the mid-19th century. Part of the main stand still has its original Edwardian style.
In October 1980, the then Prince of Wales, now King Charles III, rode at Ludlow, finishing second on his own horse, Alibar, in an amateur riders' handicap chase. The course is still privately run by Ludlow Race Club Ltd.
Here are the leading trainers at Ludlow over the last three years:
Sam Twiston-Davies leads the jockeys, with 6 chase winners and 13 hurdle winners. Toby McCain-Mitchell has won 6 of his 13 chase rides (46%), and Jonjo Burke has 9 hurdle winners.
Ludlow Racecourse is at Bromfield, Ludlow, Shropshire SY8 2BT, just off the A49 about two miles north of the town. Parking is free. A free shuttle bus runs from Ludlow station, with three runs before the first race and a return about half an hour after the last. There's also a waymarked country walk from Castle Square.
For the November and December fixtures in 2026, admission is £22 in advance or £24 on the gate. For Tanners Race Day, it's £24 in advance or £28 on the gate.
Under-18s go free with an adult, and groups of 30 or more pay from £18. There's no strict dress code, and racegoers usually dress smart-casual and warmly, although many dress up for Ladies Day. Gates open two hours before the first race.
Ludlow racing is shown live on Racing TV. Most UK bookmakers also offer free live streaming of Ludlow races to customers who have a funded account or have placed a bet on the race. Replays are available after each race.
Ludlow's handicap chases and hurdles often attract competitive fields, which makes them good races for bookmaker concessions. Best Odds Guaranteed means you get the starting price if it's bigger than the price you took.
Extra place offers are worth looking for on the Forbra Gold Cup and the bigger handicaps. Compare the latest offers from UK bookmakers before you bet.
The 2026/27 season starts on Thursday 22 October 2026, followed by Farmers Day on Thursday 5 November.
