This page has today's Newton Abbot race card, live Newton Abbot racing results, the 2026 fixtures and our Newton Abbot racing tips, along with a full guide to South Devon's summer jumps track.
The course sits on the banks of the River Teign, just north of the town, and 2026 marks 160 years of racing on the site. It's a tight, flat, left-handed oval of just over a mile, with seven fences per circuit and a very short run-in, so handy, fast-travelling horses have the edge.
Racing runs from Easter to late October, and the summer cards attract runners from big West Country yards like Paul Nicholls and Dan Skelton, as well as plenty of holidaymakers.
The Newton Abbot race card today shows every runner and rider, recent form, weights, the latest odds and race times. It updates from final declarations right up to the off, so non-runners, jockey changes and going updates appear as soon as they're announced. Tomorrow's Newton Abbot race card is added once declarations close.
Newton Abbot racing results are added as each race is settled, with winners, starting prices and payouts. Results from earlier meetings, including yesterday's, stay on the page. If a meeting is cancelled or abandoned, you'll see that here too.

If you're looking for Newton Abbot racing tips for today, here are some general tips to keep in mind for the track:
The Newton Abbot race course is a tight, flat, left-handed oval of about a mile and a furlong. It stages jumps racing only, over hurdles and fences and in National Hunt Flat races. There are seven fences per circuit.
The turns are sharp, and the home straight and run-in are short, so races are often decided by position and jumping on the final bend rather than by a long sprint for the line.
Mick Fitzgerald describes the hurdles track as fast but easier to ride than the chase course, where the fences come at you quickly. Horses that can travel and jump at speed are the ones to follow.
With such a tight track, position is vital. Horses that race close to the pace and on the inside save ground, while hold-up horses often find themselves too far back when the field turns for home. In bigger fields, a wide trip on the bends can cost several lengths.
The ground is mostly clay loam, and the course moved to summer racing because a high winter water table often led to cancellations. In spring the going can be on the soft side, but from May it's usually kept at good, so fast-ground specialists do well in the height of summer. Check the going report on the morning of racing.
The highlight of the season is the Lord Mildmay Memorial Handicap Chase, run in August over about two miles, five and a half furlongs. It was upgraded to Listed status in 2008.
Past winners include Take The Stand, who later finished second in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Kings Brook, who won in 2006 and 2007, and Snoopy Loopy, who went on to win a Grade 1 at Haydock.
The course also stages races in the Summer Jumps Championship series, and its autumn novices' chases have produced good horses such as Ashley Brook, who was later placed in the Arkle and the Tingle Creek.
Ladies Day at Newton Abbot is held on a summer evening in June. In 2026, it was on Tuesday 23 June. It combines evening jumps racing with fashion and live music, and it's one of the busiest nights of the year. Newton Abbot also holds four Family Days each season, starting in April, with free entry for under-18s and plenty of entertainment for children.
Local racing fans bought the present 91-acre site on the north bank of the River Teign in 1866, and racing has been held here ever since, apart from during the two World Wars. During the First World War, the site housed troops and a prisoner-of-war camp. In 1969, the Queen Mother opened the main grandstand.
The course once raced in winter, but a high water table led to repeated cancellations, so it switched to summer jumping. From 1974 to 2005, an independent greyhound track also ran on the final turn of the racecourse. The course is run by Newton Abbot Racing Ltd.
Here are the leading trainers at Newton Abbot over the last three years:
Harry Skelton leads the jockeys, with 15 hurdle winners and 9 chase winners at around 38%. Harry Cobden, Sam Twiston-Davies, Freddie Gingell and Jack Tudor also ride plenty of winners here.
Newton Abbot Racecourse is just north of the town centre, between Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton, with its main entrance opposite Tesco. Parking is free in the centre of the course. Use the Greenhill Way entrance at the traffic lights. A free bus runs from Newton Abbot railway station on race days.
Tickets start from around £13 if you book online before midnight the day before. Prices are higher on the gate, and an upgrade to the Paddock costs £7 to £10. Under-18s go free with an adult.
There's no strict dress code: smart-casual is fine, and jeans and shorts are allowed in the enclosures. Picnics are welcome in the Course Enclosure picnic area, but alcohol isn't. Dogs aren't allowed, except assistance dogs.
Every Newton Abbot race is shown live on UK racing TV. Most UK bookmakers also offer free live streaming of Newton Abbot races to customers who have a funded account or have placed a bet on the race. Race replays are available after each race.
Newton Abbot's summer handicaps often attract big fields, which makes them good races for bookmaker concessions. Best Odds Guaranteed means you get the starting price if it's bigger than the price you took. Extra place offers are worth looking for on the Lord Mildmay and the bigger handicap chases. Compare the latest offers from UK bookmakers before you bet.
