Nottingham Racecourse is a Flat-only turf track in Colwick Park, about 3km east of the city centre beside the River Trent. It races from early April to early November, and it's where many of the big Newmarket yards send their unraced two-year-olds to learn the ropes.
Whether you're after the Nottingham races today, the latest odds or the next fixture, you'll find it all here, with our guide to how the course rides.
Looking for the dogs? Nottingham Greyhound Stadium is a separate venue next door in Colwick. This page covers horse racing only.
Our live Nottingham race card lists every declared runner with its draw, weight, jockey, trainer, recent form and the best available price. The going and odds update throughout the day, and once racing has finished the card rolls on to the next Nottingham fixture.

We don't publish daily Nottingham racing tips right now, but a few angles are worth knowing before you study a card here:
Nottingham actually has two left-handed courses, one inside the other, each about a mile and a half round. The layout used depends on the time of year.
| Course | When it's used | Straight course | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inner | Spring and autumn | 5 furlongs | The former jumps track |
| Outer | Summer | 6 furlongs | Used through midsummer |
Both tracks are mostly flat with only minor gradients. The bends are generally easy, but the turn into the home straight is noticeably tighter, which is where less-balanced horses can lose ground. Nottingham once had a straight mile, but it was removed in the 1970s.
The draw is most important in sprints on the straight course. In big fields, the runners can split into two groups, and one side of the track may ride faster depending on the ground. Watch the first sprint of the day to see which side is favoured. On the round course, a low draw near the inside rail helps over a mile, as runners reach the bend soon after the start.
Nottingham doesn't stage Group races, but its programme has a few standout fixtures.
The summer calendar also includes themed evenings such as Wild West Night, while the autumn is dominated by two-year-old maidens and novice races.
For around two centuries, Nottingham's races were held on the Forest Recreation Ground, about two miles from the city centre. The original four-mile course was one of the earliest to receive a Royal Plate from the monarch, run in four-mile heats by six-year-olds carrying 12 stone. In 1777, a grandstand designed by John Carr of York was built there, with rooms for tea, cards and entertainment.
By the 1880s, the Forest course was in decline, with just four days' racing a year and low prize money. Church and temperance groups campaigned against it, and in January 1891 the town council received 108 petitions carrying more than 11,000 signatures. The council voted to end racing on the Forest.
A new company quickly took a lease on the Colwick Park estate, and the new course opened on 19 August 1892. Racegoers travelled up from London on a Great Northern Railway train from King's Cross, and the course had its own station on the Nottingham to Grantham line until 1959. The Nottinghamshire Handicap was run on day two, with its prize money doubled to £1,000.
The course's future looked uncertain in 1965, when the local corporation bought the 293-acre site for £500,000. Levy Board funding for improvements saved it, and the course was leased to what is now Jockey Club Racecourses. Nottingham staged jumps racing until February 1996, when it became a Flat-only venue.
The course is at Colwick Park, Colwick Road, Nottingham, NG2 4BE, around 3km east of the city centre and next to Colwick Country Park.
Nottingham races tickets are sold through The Jockey Club website. Many midweek fixtures offer admission from £9 when booked online in advance, which makes Nottingham one of the cheaper days out in British racing. Big days such as Ladies Day cost more and can sell out, so book early.
Every race from Nottingham is broadcast live on Racing TV. If you'd rather stream it on your phone, most major bookmakers show Nottingham races for free to customers who have a funded account or a bet on the race. Replays are usually available on demand soon after each race.
Nottingham's two-year-old races can be tricky to price, with lightly raced or unraced runners often shortening sharply on the day. That makes best odds guaranteed particularly useful here, as it pays out at the starting price if that beats the odds you took. For bigger handicap fields, such as the Colwick Cup, look out for bookmakers offering extra places.
The race card feed at the top of this page shows today's runners if Nottingham is racing. If there's no meeting, it shows the next date instead.
The next fixture is on Thursday 1 October 2026. After that, there are meetings on 7, 14 and 28 October and a season finale on 4 November.
No. Nottingham has been a Flat-only turf track since February 1996. Its inner course, now used for spring and autumn Flat racing, was once the jumps track.
Ladies Day is held in May. The 2026 edition took place on Saturday 9 May.
Yes, occasionally. The riverside course is vulnerable to waterlogging after heavy rain, as happened when the 2024 Nottinghamshire Oaks was lost. Any abandonment is flagged in the race card feed.
Many midweek fixtures start from £9 when bought online in advance. Feature days such as Ladies Day are priced higher.
No. Nottingham Greyhound Stadium is a separate venue nearby in Colwick. Nottingham Racecourse only hosts horse racing.
