This page has today's Wincanton race card, live Wincanton racing results, the 2026 fixtures and our Wincanton racing tips, along with a full guide to the Jockey Club's jumps track in the Somerset countryside.
Wincanton is a fast, right-handed jumps course, close to Paul Nicholls' Ditcheat yard, so plenty of his best young horses make their debuts here.
Its jumps season runs from late October to April, with the Badger Beer meeting in November, a sell-out Boxing Day fixture and the Kingwell Hurdle in February, the last Champion Hurdle trial of the season. Three fences close together in the home straight mean races are often decided late.
The Wincanton race card today shows every runner and rider, recent form, weights, the latest odds and race times. It updates from final declarations right up to the off, so non-runners, jockey changes and going updates appear as soon as they're announced. Tomorrow's Wincanton race card is added once declarations close.
Wincanton racing results are added as each race is settled, with winners, starting prices and payouts. Results from earlier meetings stay on the page so you can check recent course form.
Wincanton meetings can be lost to firm ground early in the season and to frost or waterlogging in winter. If there's an inspection, or Wincanton races are cancelled or abandoned today, the latest update appears here.

If you're looking for Wincanton racing tips for today, here are some general tips to keep in mind for the track:
The Wincanton race track is a right-handed, almost flat circuit. It runs downhill almost all the way from the home turn, which makes it one of the quickest two-mile courses in Britain. The hurdles course is tight, so the pace is usually strong.
The chase fences are big and stiff, and the three fences in the home straight come close together. That makes the straight a real test: horses that are under pressure going to the first of them rarely recover, and races are often decided by jumping as much as speed. On very testing ground, Wincanton becomes a stern test of stamina, and fields get strung out.
Position on the home turn is crucial. Letting a strong-staying rival get away there can be costly, so horses that race prominently and travel well have the edge. Hold-up horses need everything to go their way on quick ground.
The going varies a lot. Early-season meetings can be on good or firm ground, and the course has limited watering capacity. The 2025 season opener was abandoned after the ground stayed too firm. In midwinter, the ground can be soft or heavy, and frost is a threat. Check the going report and any inspection news on the morning of racing.
The Badger Beers Handicap Chase is a Premier Handicap over about three miles and a furlong, run on the Badger Beer meeting in early November. In 2025, it went to Gustavian (11/2) for Anthony Honeyball and Rex Dingle, earning £47,552 for the winner. The meeting also features the Grade 2 Elite Hurdle and the Grade 2 Rising Stars Novices' Chase.
The Grade 2 Kingwell Hurdle, run in mid-February, is the last Champion Hurdle trial of the season. Bula, Kribensis, Alderbrook and Katchit all won it before winning the Champion Hurdle the same season, and Desert Orchid also won it. In 2026, it went to Alexei for Joe Tizzard and Brendan Powell.
The Boxing Day meeting is the busiest day of the year at Wincanton, and it sold out in 2025. In 2026, it's on Saturday 26 December. Gates open at 10.30am, and the first race is at around 12.48pm, with racegoers welcomed with mince pies. Under-18s go free, and 18 to 24-year-olds can save up to 50% with RacePass. Book early, and arrive early to avoid the queues.
Here are the leading trainers at Wincanton:
Harry Cobden leads the jockeys with 126 winners at 30%. David Jacob (69 winners), Sam Twiston-Davies (58), Nick Scholfield (54) and Brendan Powell (47) are the other leading riders.
Wincanton Racecourse is just outside the town of Wincanton in south Somerset, close to the A303, which makes it easy to reach from the South West, Wiltshire and Dorset. The nearest railway station is Templecombe, and a free bus runs from the station on race days, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tickets for the 2026 Season Opener start from £22, and hospitality from £149. Under-18s race free at most Jockey Club race days. Parking is on grass, and Course Enclosure parking costs about £10 per car on busy days.
Picnics are allowed in the Course Enclosure, but you can't bring your own alcohol, and dogs are only allowed in the picnic enclosure. There are no cash machines on site.
Wincanton racing is shown live on Racing TV, and the big meetings are sometimes broadcast on ITV Racing. Most UK bookmakers also offer free live streaming of Wincanton races to customers who have a funded account or have placed a bet on the race.
Wincanton's big handicaps, especially the Badger Beers Chase and the Boxing Day card, attract competitive fields and plenty of betting interest.
