UK online bookmaker and casino Betfred has paid out its biggest ever win after a 32-year-old man from Newcastle scooped the jackpot on one of Betfred’s online slot games.
Michael Clark from Newcastle Upon Tyne was playing the King Kong Cashpots slot game in the Betfred casino when the big win landed. Mr Clark was playing with just £1.40 spins but managed to trigger the jackpot prize of a whopping £5.4 million – the largest payout Betfred has ever made to date.
The maximum payout for King Kong Cashpots is set to 50,000 x the stake. However, Mr Clark was playing a progressive jackpot game where the prize pool increases with every spin from players until it is won, allowing him to scoop up the life-changing prize.
Mr Clark, a 32-year-old care worker from Newcastle thought at first that he had won £5,000 but it quickly became apparent that he had landed the jackpot of £5.4 million.
Speaking of his huge win, Mr Clark said:
‘I rang my mum and dad and I was crying my eyes out. I couldn’t help it because it was a big win and it was overwhelming.’
‘I just couldn’t stop crying, and there was no way I was going to go to sleep that night having won such an enormous amount of money.’
Following his jackpot win, Mr Clark has already started to make plans on what he will spend some of his winnings on.
Mr Clarks fiancée, Sherelle Pooley, has already upgraded her engagement ring and with being big fans of Newcastle United, are planning their dream wedding at St James’ Park followed up by a lavish honeymoon in Jamaica. The happy couple also have plans to buy their forever home in the countryside.
After his win, family members of Mr Clark have nicknamed him ‘Mickey Millions’ and he has said that he will be taking a break from care work and looking at moving into property investment.
Although the size of Mr Clarks win is extremely rare, there have been several lucky casino players who have scooped larger amounts at UK online casinos.
In 2013, British soldier, Jon Hayward from Crewe, won a £13.2 million jackpot whilst playing the Mega Moolah slot at UK betting site Betway. He had wagered just £0.25 before landing the monstrous sum of money.
