Sports & Betting Markets

There are 25 different sports which are available to bet on with McBookie. The majority of the more established bookies offer between 30-35 and so there are slightly less than average. However, the sports which are missing are unlikely to be very popular and all the most popular sports such as football, horse racing, tennis, rugby, golf, cricket and basketball are well covered. Since McBookie revamped their website when switching to the Playbook platform after new owners took over in early 2023, they’ve been able to provide a lot more markets for the sports that they do offer. You’ll find hundreds of betting options for football with leagues and competitions ranging from the English Premier League to the Columbian Primera A.

We compared the odds at McBookie to Bet365 for horse racing and found them to be very close which means they offer good value. For football, we found McBookie to offer slightly lower odds at times but not so much where they would put customers off. One big attraction to McBookie over other bookmakers is their coverage of the Scottish football leagues and in particular, the lower Scottish leagues. At MacBookie, not only can you bet on the Scottish Premiership and Championship, but also League 1 & 2. they did used to offer markets for the Highland League, the Lowland League, as well as the West, North and East Region Leagues, but these were removed after making the switch to the Playbook platform.

Horse Racing

All UK and Irish horse races are available to bet on at McBookie and customers can enjoy Best Odds Guaranteed on selected races. BOG races are marked with a green tick alongside them which is visible once logged in. There’s also a number of Virtual Sports to keep you entertained for when there are no horse races taking place along with other virtual sports such as greyhounds, tennis, football, speedway and trotting.

Along with UK & Irish races, MacBookie cover horse racing taking place further afield with races at Mahoning Valley, Zia Park, Marseilles, Turffontein, Kilcoy, Wagga and several other racecourses covered.

McBookie Tartan Club

The McBookie Tartan Club is a promotion that has been around as long as the brand. It was originally only open to Scottish residents but customers from all around the world can now participate. It’s an invite-only promotion and although there is no specific qualifying criteria, they aim to reward their most loyal customers with an invite.

Through the MacBookie Tartan Club, participating customers can receive weekly free bets and other rewards.

In-Play Betting

In-play events can be found by clicking on the ‘In-Play’ link in the main nav menu. There are dozens of live sporting events to bet on in-play at any time of the day ranging from football matches in leagues around the world, to snooker, basketball, tennis and cricket matches.

After comparing in-play odds at McBookie to other bookmakers, we found them to be there or thereabouts. The majority were slightly lower but we did find a few which were higher. Overall, there were no huge differences in odds. Unfortunately, there is no visual graphic of in-play events available at McBookie, nor are there in-play stats available. Whether this is an issue for you is a personal preference.

Live Streaming

Live streaming is a new addition to McBookie which further enhances the appeal of the bookmaker. Live streams of horse races and other sporting events are available around the clock and available on both desktop and mobile.

Sporting events which are available to stream live have a green ‘play’ button alongside them.

Streams are of excellent quality and without any lagging provided you have a stable internet connection.

Customer Service

Customer support at McBookie is available 24/7 via live chat. You can connect to a live support agent using the chat icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. There is also the option to contact the support team via email ([email protected]) or via their Twitter account which is very active. Upon testing response times for live chat and email support were excellent.

McBookie App

The Mcbookie app is available to download for free for both iOS and Android devices from the associated app stores.  With the McBookie app, you’ll be able to bet on all sports and markets which you can on the desktop site as well as view Scottish football results, including for non-league fixtures. The app is well-designed, easy to navigate and a must for all customers of MacBookie. For those who do not wish to download the McBookie app, the website is fully responsive, meaning that it looks and works great on mobile devices. You’ll be able to access all sections of Mcbookie such as the sportsbook, casino and in-play areas.

The Website

There is no doubt that the McBookie website has a Scottish feel to it. The dark and navy blue colours and green highlights are similar to Scottish tartan colours and the logo includes a Scottish thistle along with a traditionally Celtic font. Overall, we really liked the McBookie website and found it easy to use, attractive and fast.
