If there's racing on a Tuesday night in November, there's a good chance it's at Southwell. This Nottinghamshire track in the village of Rolleston is one of the hardest-working venues in Britain, running well over 50 fixtures a year across a floodlit Tapeta all-weather oval and a turf jumps course.
It also made headlines in February 2026 when Constitution Hill won on his Flat debut here. Scroll down for the Southwell races today, fresh results, upcoming dates and everything you need to know about how the track plays.
The feed above carries today's full Southwell card: stall numbers for the Flat, weights, riders, trainers, recent form and the latest prices. It refreshes as the market moves and the going is updated, then moves on to the next fixture once the last race is run.
Southwell has a packed autumn, with floodlit all-weather cards most weeks and regular afternoon jumps meetings on turf.

Since late 2021, Southwell's Flat racing has been run on Tapeta, a blend of sand, fibres and wax. It replaced the old Fibresand surface, which was deep and testing and famous for throwing kickback into the faces of runners behind. Tapeta rides much more like the surfaces at Wolverhampton and Newcastle, and Nicky Henderson described it as riding quite quick after Constitution Hill's win.
The National Hunt course sits inside the all-weather track. Its going changes with the weather like any turf track, so check the official description before each jumps card.
The course lies on low-lying land, and in December 2012 severe flooding closed it until February 2013. A flood alleviation scheme has since been added. Abandonments on the Tapeta are uncommon, but frost can still threaten turf jumps fixtures, and extreme summer heat once forced the course to scrap the last two races on a card.
We're not posting daily Southwell racing tips at the moment. Instead, here's what the form book tends to reward at Rolleston:
Southwell sits in 145 acres of Nottinghamshire countryside, with two separate layouts.
The all-weather oval runs around the outside of the jumps course. A two-furlong spur off the bottom bend allows straight five-furlong sprints, one of the longest all-weather straights in the country after Newcastle's straight mile. Floodlights were added in 2019, allowing year-round evening racing.
In five-furlong sprints on the straight, the fastest part of the track can vary by meeting, so watch the early races. On the oval, a low draw usually helps over six and seven furlongs, as runners reach the first bend quickly and wide runners can lose several lengths. Over a mile and further, the draw matters less.
Southwell is mostly about volume, but a few races and themed nights stand out.
The present course at Rolleston staged its first meeting on 16 May 1898, when racegoers watched from a 1,200-seat wooden grandstand. For most of the next century, it was a modest country track racing on turf under both codes.
Everything changed in 1989. Just days after Lingfield launched British all-weather racing, Southwell staged its first meeting on its new Fibresand track on 1 November 1989. The opening race was a novice hurdle won by Martin Pipe's Zulu, as jumps racing on the artificial surface was briefly tried before being dropped in the mid-1990s. The first Flat winner on the new track was ridden by a young Frankie Dettori.
Fibresand became Southwell's trademark. It was deep, slow and famous for kickback, and it produced a stream of course specialists who rarely showed the same form anywhere else. The track also has close ties to Hayley Turner, who grew up locally and had her first job in racing with a trainer based next to the course.
Southwell hosted the Great Yorkshire Chase in 2007 while Doncaster was being redeveloped. In December 2012, severe flooding damaged the track and buildings, and racing didn't return until 5 February 2013. Owners Arena Racing Company installed floodlights in 2019 and replaced the worn-out Fibresand with Tapeta in 2021.
The course's biggest night came on 20 February 2026. Former Champion Hurdle winner Constitution Hill made his Flat debut in a 1m 4f novice stakes and, under Oisin Murphy, won by nine and a half lengths.
You'll find the course at Occupation Lane, Rolleston, Nottinghamshire, NG25 0FT. It's about two miles east of the minster town of Southwell and a few miles west of Newark-on-Trent.
Southwell is an Arena Racing Company course, so its meetings are shown live on Sky Sports Racing rather than Racing TV. Big occasions sometimes get wider coverage too: Constitution Hill's Flat debut was shown on ITV4. You can also stream Southwell races through most bookmakers once you've funded your account or placed a bet, with replays usually available straight after each race.
Because Southwell races so often, even small edges add up over a season. Always take best odds guaranteed where you can, as all-weather markets can swing sharply in the final minutes before the off. Moderate handicaps with big fields are common, so extra-place offers can make each-way bets much more attractive.
Look at the race card feed near the top of this page. If Southwell has a meeting today, the runners will be there. If not, the feed shows the next fixture, which is rarely more than a few days away.
The fixture table above lists every meeting to the start of December. Tomorrow, Thursday 1 October 2026, there's an afternoon jumps card.
The results feed keeps the most recent meeting on display until the next one starts, including SPs and Tote payouts.
Sky Sports Racing broadcasts every Southwell fixture live. Bookmaker streams are also available to funded account holders.
It's rare on the Tapeta, but turf jumps meetings can be lost to frost or waterlogging, and extreme heat has caused races to be cancelled in the past. Any abandonment will show in the race card feed.
No. The Fibresand was replaced with Tapeta in 2021, so older Southwell form on Fibresand is much less relevant now.
Southwell holds Ladies Evenings rather than a single Ladies Day. The 2026 Winter Ladies Evening is on Saturday 28 November.
Yes, Southwell traditionally holds a New Year's Day fixture.
