The 20th series of American Idol is set to hit our screens on Sunday 27th February 2022 and will be televised on a weekly basis at 8pm ET.
That means UK viewers will have to stay up until the early hours of Monday morning, 1am to be exact, to watch the show live on ABC. However, American Idol can also be streamed via the ABC app or via Hulu and so catchup is available.
Judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan are all set to return in the 2022 series along with American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest. However, Bobby Bones will not make an appearance for season 20 after featuring on the show as a judge for four years.
As American Idol 2022 hasn’t started yet, we do not know who this year’s contestants are.
The audition stages will take place from the first episode and we’ll begin to find out which singers make it through to Hollywood week in the episodes that follow.
There have been 19 seasons of American Idol that have produced as many winners.
Although several of the show’s winners such as Kelly Clarkson have gone on to high levels of fame, many contestants who didn’t win have had extremely successful careers with some examples being Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert and Season 3 seventh-placed finisher Jennifer Hudson.
