This page has today's Carlisle race card, live Carlisle racing results, the 2026 fixtures and our Carlisle racing tips, along with a full guide to the Jockey Club's dual-purpose track in Cumbria.
The course sits at Blackwell on the southern edge of the city, and it has raced on its present site since 1904. It's a right-handed, galloping track with a stiff uphill finish, so stamina counts on the Flat and over jumps.
Summer brings the Carlisle Bell, one of the oldest races in the world, and the Cumberland Plate. In the winter, the Colin Parker Memorial Chase has been won by the likes of Many Clouds and Tidal Bay.
The Carlisle race card today shows every runner and rider, recent form, weights, the latest odds and race times, plus the draw on Flat days. It updates from final declarations right up to the off, so non-runners, jockey changes and going updates appear as soon as they're announced. Tomorrow's Carlisle race card is added once declarations close.
Carlisle racing results are added as each race is settled, with winners, starting prices and payouts. Yesterday's results and earlier meetings stay on the page.
Winter meetings are sometimes lost to waterlogging or frost, so if Carlisle races are cancelled today or tomorrow, you'll see the update here.

If you're looking for Carlisle racing tips for today, here are some general tips to keep in mind for the track:
The Carlisle race course is a right-handed, pear-shaped circuit of about a mile and a half. On the Flat, it's galloping with easy turns, but the ground falls away sharply from about a mile and three furlongs out before climbing for the last three furlongs. That uphill finish makes Carlisle a stiffer test than its easy bends suggest.
The jumps course is right-handed and undulating, and the home straight is also uphill. The fences are considered among the easiest in Britain, but the first fence in the home straight can catch out novices, because horses run downhill into it straight after a bend. Many jumps races are run at a steady pace.
There's no strong draw bias at Carlisle. A prominent position and a good run up the centre of the straight matter more than the stall. In big sprint fields, though, it's worth noting where the pace is drawn.
The going varies a lot with the season. Summer Flat meetings are usually on good or good to soft ground, while winter jumps cards are often soft or heavy. Waterlogging and frost can lead to inspections and cancellations, so check the going report on the morning of racing.
The Carlisle Bell is one of the oldest horse races still run, and it dates back to 1599. Today, it's a handicap over about a mile, run in June alongside the Cumberland Plate. The original bell is kept at Carlisle's Guildhall Museum and is still presented to the winner. In 2026, the Bell went to Priapos (12/1) for Phillip Makin, who also won the race as a jockey, and Sam James.
The Cumberland Plate, first run in 1842, is over about a mile and three and a half furlongs. In 2026, Wine Dark Sea won it as the 5/6 favourite for Harry Charlton and Lewis Edmunds.
The Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase is Carlisle's best-known jumps race, run in early November over about two and a half miles. Past winners include Many Clouds, Tidal Bay and Monet's Garden. In 2026, it's on Sunday 1 November, the same card as the Listed Houghton Mares' Chase.
Ladies Night moved to a Saturday in 2026 and was held on 4 July, with Style Awards and a charity stable staff race. Tickets for Ladies Night 2027 are already on sale at £30.
The Christmas Jumper Raceday is Carlisle's last meeting of the year. In 2026, it's on Sunday 13 December, with general admission from £12 in advance and hospitality from £114.
Racing in Carlisle dates back centuries. The Carlisle Bell race goes back to 1599, and George III established a King's Plate here in 1763, run in three-mile heats. The course moved from The Swifts, near the city centre, to Blackwell in 1904.
On 2 July 1929, Carlisle became the first British racecourse to use the Tote's pool betting system. Today, the course is run by Jockey Club Racecourses.
Here are the leading trainers at Carlisle:
Brian Hughes is the leading jumps jockey, with 117 winners, and Paul Mulrennan leads on the Flat with 62. Ben Curtis has a 21% strike rate on the Flat, and Danny McMenamin has 41 jumps winners.
Carlisle Racecourse is on the outskirts of the city, just off Durdar Road (sat-nav CA2 4TS). Carlisle station is about 2.2 miles away. On race days, a bus runs from Lonsdale Street, opposite the bus station, for £1.60 each way, leaving 90 and 45 minutes before the first race and returning after racing. There are two race-day car parks.
General admission starts from around £12 if you book in advance. Prices are higher for Ladies Night and the Bell and Plate meeting. Booking early is the cheapest option.
Carlisle racing is shown live on Racing TV. Most UK bookmakers also offer free live streaming of Carlisle races to customers who have a funded account or have placed a bet on the race. Results and replays are available after each race.
Carlisle's summer handicaps, especially the Carlisle Bell, attract big fields and plenty of betting interest. Best Odds Guaranteed means you get the starting price if it's bigger than the price you took. Extra place offers are common on the Bell and the Cumberland Plate. Compare the latest offers from UK bookmakers before you bet.
The jumps season starts on Thursday 22 October 2026, followed by the Colin Parker Memorial Chase meeting on Sunday 1 November.
The Carlisle Bell is run in June, alongside the Cumberland Plate. In 2026, it was on Wednesday 24 June.
In 2026, Ladies Night was on Saturday 4 July. Tickets for Ladies Night 2027 are already on sale.
The Christmas Jumper Raceday is on Sunday 13 December 2026, with tickets from £12.
