It's a National Hunt course that races from March to November, and it's known as one of the fastest, sharpest jumps tracks in Britain. Its biggest night is the Champion Hunters' Chase in late May.

If you're looking for Stratford racing tips for today, here are some general tips to keep in mind for the track:
The Stratford race course is a left-handed, roughly triangular circuit with sharp bends and eight fences per lap. A water jump was added in the home straight in 2008, although it isn't jumped on the final circuit. The track is flat and fast, and the long, sweeping bend into a short home straight puts a premium on position and speed.
The hurdles course has a relatively short straight, so riders often kick for home sooner than at most tracks. It's a course that rewards horses that travel well and jump quickly, rather than out-and-out stayers.
There are no starting stalls in jump racing, so the draw doesn't apply at Stratford. Position matters a great deal, though. Horses that hold a good spot on the inside and race close to the pace around the sharp bends are usually best placed when the field turns for home.
Because Stratford races mainly from spring to autumn, the ground is often good or good to firm, which suits its speed-favouring nature. The early spring and late autumn fixtures can be softer, so check the latest going report before racing.
Racing first took place near Stratford in July 1718, and the racecourse itself opened in September 1755. The course was linked to the actor David Garrick and his 1769 Shakespeare Jubilee celebrations.
In 1839, a horse called Lottery won at Stratford before winning the first Grand National. The Stratford Race Company was formed in 1922, a new grandstand followed in 1955, and the course is still run by the Stratford-on-Avon Racecourse Company today.
Dan Skelton is the leading trainer at Stratford with 61 winners. Nigel Twiston-Davies (51), Jonjo O'Neill (44) and Fergal O'Brien (40) are next. Alan King has the best strike rate among the leading trainers at 25%.
Richard Johnson is still the course's leading jockey with 82 winners, ahead of Sam Twiston-Davies (75) and Harry Skelton (74). In recent seasons, Sean Bowen has ridden the most hurdle winners, and Ben Jones has won on half of his chase rides here. Source: IrishRacing.com and At The Races.
Stratford Racecourse is on Luddington Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 9SE. It's on the edge of the town, a short trip from the town centre. Racegoers can choose from three enclosures: the Club Enclosure, Tattersalls and the Centre Course. In the two higher-priced enclosures, the riders walk through the crowd to the parade ring.
Gates open two hours before the first race, and the public enclosures have hard surfaces, so you won't need wellies. The course also has a touring caravan park with around 100 pitches, which is popular with racegoers who want to camp at the races and visitors to Stratford-upon-Avon.
Every Stratford meeting is shown live on Racing TV. Many bookmakers also offer free live streams to customers who have a funded account or have placed a bet on the race.
All the major bookmakers price up every Stratford race. Look for Best Odds Guaranteed, which pays the starting price if it's bigger than the odds you took, and extra places on the bigger summer handicaps.
Check the fixtures table above. If there's racing at Stratford today, the race card and race times appear at the top of this page.
