Chisholms are an independent bookie operating a chain of 36 betting shops in the north-east of England. The business was established in the 1950’s by the grandfather of the current Directors. At one point the chain grew to more than 50 shops but many shops have been closed in recent years due to increasing costs.
The shops are generally well managed and the Company has a reputation for investing in staff training and good customer service.
Managing Director Howard Chisholm is also a Director of the Bookmakers Technology Consortium which operates from the same Head Office and helps supply other independent bookmakers with IT and technology solutions.
Chisholms introduced their own interactive online betting website as early as 2001 called betsmart.co.uk but heavy losses soon forced the closure of the site.
