Ludlow Tips

Ludlow Racecourse is located in Bromfield, Shropshire, just ten miles from the Welsh border.

As well as featuring an on-site golf course, there are tracks for jumps and hurdles that host 16 fixtures between October and May each year.

It’s a relatively small, relaxed and informal racecourse and very popular with racegoers from the local area.

The course itself is right-handed and oval in shape with the hurdle course running around the outside and the chase course cutting through the centre.

The B4365 road crosses the course at three different points causing the road to be closed on racedays.

The chase course is 10 furlongs around and features nine easy fences. Due to the hurdles course running around the outside, the turns are less sharp.

Ludlow Feature Races

The Forbra Gold Challenge Cup is the main race that takes place at Ludlow and is a handicap race that is run over three miles. It takes place in March of each year and is named after the winner of the 1932 Grand National, Forbra, who went off at odds of 50/1.
