Home » News » Placepot Dividends Pay Huge Over Cheltenham
Placepot punters were left astounded last week as the Cheltenham Festival produced not one, but two of the biggest Placepot dividends of the last decade.
It was another great Cheltenham with favourites dominating the opening days of the festival and outsiders shining over the final two days.
Champions Day favoured the favourites with five of the seven races being won by runners at the shortest, or join shortest, odds. Festival Day followed a somewhat similar route with four of the seven winners being priced at 7/2 or less. However, it was Day 3 of the festival that pleased Placepot punters as the dividend reached the fourth highest it’s been in the past decade.
All throughout the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, Tote guaranteed a minimum of £1 MILLION in each of their Cheltenham Placepots with the total pool actually reaching £1.4 million on each of the days. Punters tried their luck with a stake of as little as £1 and those who were successful in picking 6 placed horses on the Thursday were in for a treat and left others wishing they had followed their Placepot tips.

The Placepot dividends on the Tuesday & Wednesday of the festival reached just £21.40 and £53.50 to a £1 stake. However, with no favourites winning on the Thursday and the likes of Notlongtillmay (40/1) & Dashel Drasher (40/1) placing and Sire Du Berlais (33/1) & Seddon (20/1) winning in their races, the dividend for the day shot up to a HUGE £14,087.30 to a £1 stake!
Thursday’s Placepot dividend was the fourth highest in the last decade with the highest recorded being back in 2019 when it reached a whopping £91,000 to a £1 stake with one lucky punter picking up £180k from a £2 bet!
Cheltenham has paid out the most in Placepot dividends of all the UK racecourses with an average of £2,361.39.
Day 4 Produces Even Higher Placepot Dividends
Cheltenham racegoers and Placepot punters were delighted with the returns on Day 3 of the festival but amazingly, it was Friday’s placepot which stole the headlines.
Although Lossiemouth won the opening race as the favourite and Galopin Des Champs picked up the Gold Cup at the shortest price, favourites generally faltered elsewhere. Pembroke finished 17th in the County Handicap Hurdle, Corbetts Cross Ran Out in the Albert Bartlett, Vaucelet was well beaten by 66/1 shot Premier Magic in the Hunters Chase and Imagine finished out of the places in the final race of the day.
Those results meant that the Placepot dividend on the Friday at Cheltenham returned £23,672 to a £1 stake.
The huge dividend was won by 45.79 units on the Friday with many of the winners taking to social media to express their joy.
