CompetitionUEFA Nations League
Who do you think will win?

Bosnia and Poland are both chasing the same thing here, an immediate return to Nations League A after suffering relegation from the top tier last time around, and it gives this Group B4 clash a real edge. Bosnia have gone about their campaign in a quietly efficient way, unbeaten through three games and sitting second in the group with five points. Poland are a point behind them, and they arrive in Zenica having just hammered Romania 6-0 but still carrying questions about whether they can actually perform when they are not the dominant force in a game.

That is the crux of it, really. Bosnia at home are a different beast to Bosnia on their travels, and Poland away from Warsaw have been pretty unconvincing. Something has to give, and with both sides needing the points, the tension should make for a competitive, potentially cagey night in central Bosnia.

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Poland Match Details

This UEFA Nations League League B fixture takes place at the Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica, with Bosnia playing the role of hosts in what is a pivotal Group B4 encounter. Both nations are in the automatic promotion picture, and the result here could go a long way to shaping where each of them finishes come the end of the group stage.

Team News

The big news on the Bosnia side is the absence of Edin Dzeko, who has played his final game for the national team. It is a huge moment for the country, losing a talismanic captain and all-time top scorer, and the question now is how Bosnia shape their attack without him.

  • Haris Tabakovic is expected to lead the line after coming on for Dzeko in the Sweden draw, and the 32-year-old will be keen to make that role his own
  • Kerim Alajbegovic should keep his place on the wing after scoring the late equaliser against Sweden
  • Sead Kolasinac, the former Arsenal man, anchors the left side of the back four
  • Poland have no fresh injury concerns following the Romania win, so Jan Urban has a full hand to pick from
  • Robert Lewandowski is fit and firing after his hat-trick last time out

Predicted Lineups

Sergej Barbarez will likely set Bosnia up with the same structure that earned a point against Sweden. Tabakovic gets the nod up front, with Alajbegovic causing problems from wide. The back four of Katic, Muharemovic and Kolasinac offers experience and organisation, which will matter against Lewandowski.

Urban has little reason to tinker after that emphatic win over Romania. The Porto pairing of Bednarek and Kiwior continue at centre back, with Cash and Frankowski as the fullbacks. Lewandowski leads the line with Swiderski offering support, and the midfield trio of Szymanski, Nowak and Zielinski gives Poland real quality through the middle.

Recent Form

Bosnia have been quietly impressive in this Nations League campaign. Three games, five points, and only one goal conceded. They opened with a goalless draw against Poland, then went to Romania and won 4-2 in a performance that showed genuine attacking threat, before earning a creditable draw against Sweden last time out thanks to Alajbegovic’s late goal. The Sweden result was particularly encouraging given that the Scandinavians are top of the group and have been the standout side so far.

What is worth noting is that Bosnia have lost just two of their last 15 matches across all competitions, and both of those came at the World Cup. They went out to Switzerland in the group stage and then fell to the co-hosts USA in the round of 32, which in context is no disgrace. On home turf, they have lost just once in their last eight games, though three of those most recent home fixtures have ended level, which suggests they can be caught late on if the opposition stays in the game.

Poland arrive off the back of their biggest win since 2021, a 6-0 dismantling of Romania that came with the caveat of playing against ten men from the 22nd minute. Before that, they had gone five games without a win, including a 3-1 defeat to Sweden and a playoff loss to the same opponents that cost them a place at the World Cup. The Romania result was a badly needed confidence booster, and Lewandowski’s hat-trick will have him buzzing, but Poland on the road have won just two of their last eight away games, both against minnows Malta and Lithuania.

Head-to-Head Record

Poland hold a strong record in this fixture, going unbeaten in their last six meetings with Bosnia, winning four of those contests. That is a significant stat and it gives Urban’s side genuine belief that they can get something here. The Nations League opener between the two sides this campaign ended 0-0, which tells you that when these teams meet, it tends to be tight and neither side gives much away easily.

Bosnia will be hoping that home advantage helps tip the balance. Their record at Bilino Polje has been decent, and with the crowd behind them and a point to prove following the loss of Dzeko, there is motivation here. But Poland’s head-to-head dominance is not a stat you can just ignore.

Key Stats

  • Bosnia have lost just once in their last eight home games, but three of their last three home matches have ended level
  • Poland are unbeaten in their last six meetings with Bosnia, winning four of those six contests
  • Poland have won just two of their last eight away games, both against Malta and Lithuania

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Poland Betting Tips

This has draw written all over it based on the evidence. Bosnia are solid enough at home to avoid defeat, but their last three home games have all ended level and Poland have enough quality to nick a goal. At the same time, Poland’s away form is genuinely poor outside of games against weaker opposition, and Bosnia will make this difficult. The betting angle here leans heavily towards a tight, low-scoring contest with both sides cancelling each other out.

Cards Prediction

With a lot riding on this game and two teams who like to stay compact and make life difficult, expect some niggly fouls and a bit of needle in the middle of the park. A couple of bookings each would not surprise at all. Back over three cards in this one.

Over and Under Goals Prediction

The head-to-head opened with a 0-0, Bosnia concede rarely at home, and Poland struggle to impose themselves away from Warsaw. Under 2.5 goals looks the smart play here. Neither defence looks like shipping a bag of goals, and with both sides having plenty to lose, the attacking risk-taking should be limited.

Correct Score Prediction

A 1-1 draw fits the profile of this game perfectly. Bosnia have the home crowd and the motivation of a post-Dzeko era to drive them, but Poland’s quality through Lewandowski means they are always capable of scoring. One each feels right and reflects the broader pattern of these two teams meeting over recent years.

Corners Prediction

Neither side is particularly relentless in terms of forcing corner situations, and with both teams likely to be cautious and set up to stay solid rather than pour forward, the corners tally should stay modest. Under nine corners is the play here.

First Goalscorer Prediction

Robert Lewandowski is the obvious shout and for very good reason. The man is on 92 international goals, he has just hit a hat-trick, and he will be the focal point of everything Poland do going forward. Even against a compact Bosnia defence, a player of his movement and finishing quality always carries a threat. Lewandowski anytime is the call.

Bet Builder Tip

Market Selection
Match Result Draw
Total Goals Under 2.5
Anytime Goalscorer Robert Lewandowski

A tight, low-scoring draw with Lewandowski grabbing Poland’s goal is entirely consistent with everything the form and head-to-head record points to in this fixture.

Final Match Prediction

Bosnia will be fired up at home, especially with the Dzeko era now officially over and a new chapter beginning. There will be emotion in this, and Barbarez will want his side to respond with a performance. But they have drawn three of their last three home games and Poland, for all their away struggles, have not lost to Bosnia in six attempts.

The most logical outcome is that these two share the spoils again, just as they did in the opening fixture of this campaign. A 1-1 feels right, with Lewandowski doing what Lewandowski does and Bosnia finding a way back through one of their creative wide players. A point each keeps both in the promotion picture and sets up a fascinating run-in to the group.
