How Does Lightning Dice Work?
Lightning Dice is a simple dice game where 3 dice are thrown (actually dropped from a tower) and players bet on the cumulative total of the value of the dice.
With three dice, each with 6 numbers on them, there are 16 possible outcomes for the cumulative total of the values facing up when they are thrown.
These numbers range from 3 – 18.
Players can bet on what the total of the three dice will be and their bet wins if they predict correctly.

Lightning Multipliers
Added excitement comes from the ‘Lightning Multiplier’ feature which is applied to every round.
Once betting has closed, random multipliers are applied to one, or several, numbers. Should the total sum of the dice be one of the lightning numbers, players who bet on that number will receive an enhanced payout compared to the standard odds for that number.
For example, in the image below, the numbers 5, 6 & 9 have been selected as Lightning Multipliers, with their payouts being increased to x50, x50 and x25.
The total of the three dice in the example equal 9 and so bets on the number 9 are paid out at odds of 35.0 (34/1).
Lightning Dice Odds
The table below shows the probability of the sum of the three dice along with the standard payout odds.

Let’s take a look at a couple of examples.
The total of the three dice having a sum of 3 pays out at 150x. This means that if you were to place a £1 bet on it and it came in, you would receive back £150.
However, the probability of the three dice totalling 3 is just 0.46% which is around 1 in 217. Therefore, the odds of just 1 in 150 seem relatively low. This is because the Lightning Multipliers haven’t been taken into account which can boost the payout odds by considerable amounts.
The Lightning Multipliers are applied to random numbers in every round after betting has closed. If you have played Lightning Roulette, you’ll be familiar with this. However, Lightning Dice works slightly differently as certain multipliers can only be applied to certain numbers. We’ve listed these below.
Numbers 3 & 18 can have multipliers applied up to 1000x
Numbers 4 & 17 can have multipliers applied up to 500x
Numbers 5 & 16 can have multipliers applied up to 250x
Numbers 6, 7, 14 & 15 can have multipliers applied up to 100x
Numbers 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13 can have multipliers applied up to 50x

Lightning Dice RTP
The RTP of Lightning Dice when betting on numbers 3 or 18 is 96.21%. The RTP of other numbers starts at 96.03% and so there isn’t much difference at all between the numbers compared to other live game show style games such as Dream Catcher where the RTP of the various betting options varies by relatively large amounts.
Lightning Dice Strategy
There isn’t much of a strategy when playing Lightning Dice. You simply need to place your bets and hope that the sum of the three dice equals the number you bet on.
You are also hoping for the payouts of the numbers you bet on to be increased via the Lightning Multipliers as if you don’t the returns will be nowhere near your stakes over time.
If you prefer a low-variance strategy, you may wish to bet on numbers 8 – 13 as these have the greatest chance of coming in albeit with lower payouts (5x – 7x without multipliers).
If you prefer a high-variance strategy, betting on numbers 3 – 5 and 16 – 18 may be a better choice. These numbers will come in less often but will have much greater returns (25x – 150x without multipliers)
