Ladbrokes Review

Everything you need to know about Ladbrokes

Ladbrokes was founded back in 1886, making it one of the longest-standing betting companies around. Over 130 years later, Ladbrokes has grown to become one of the most popular bookmakers worldwide with over 3,000 land-based shops as well as their online sportsbook, casino, bingo & poker rooms and betting exchange.

In this Ladbrokes review, we’ll be looking at all areas of the betting company to determine whether or not you should consider joining them. Feel free to leave your own review of Ladbrokes at the bottom of this page or read the Ladbrokes reviews left by other people.

Welcome Offer

Ladbrokes offer a simple yet generous welcome offer for new customers that will appeal to both beginners and seasoned gamblers.

New customers can receive £20 in free bets when creating an account with Ladbrokes and placing their first bet of just £5 or more.

Follow the simple steps below to claim the Ladbrokes free bet.

1. First you’ll need to create an account with Ladbrokes. It’s important to remember that you must enter the Ladbrokes promo code 20FREE on the registration form when creating an account. If you do not enter this promo code, you will not be eligible to receive the free bets.

2. Once your account is created, you need to make a deposit to use as the stake for your qualifying bet. The minimum deposit amount is £5 but you can deposit more if you wish.

3. The final step is to place a bet of £5 or more on any sports or market so long as the odds of your bet are ½ (1.5) or greater. Any bets placed with odds lower than this will not qualify.

Once your qualifying bet has settled, your account will be credited with £20 in free bets. These are credited as 4 x £5 free bets and so you can either use them on four separate bets or place them all on the same one.

The Ladbrokes free bet offer is a favourite of ours as you can receive £20 in free bets for placing just a £5 bet. This will appeal to those who may not wish to place a large bet initially with a bookmaker they have just signed up with but it also gives them a large reward for doing so.

Sports & Betting Markets

With over 100 year experience in the betting industry, it’s no surprise that Ladbrokes offer betting markets on a huge variety of sports. Customers can bet on popular sports such as football, tennis, horse racing, golf, darts and basketball as well as more obscure sports such as Futsal, volleyball and cycling. There are also betting markets available for E-sports, TV shows and even movies.

A list of sports available to bet on at Ladbrokes can be seen in the table below.

  • Aussie Rules
  • Badminton
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • Esports
  • F1
  • Football
  • Futsal
  • GAA Football

  • NFL
  • Politics
  • Rugby
  • Snooker
  • Specials
  • Speedway
  • Tennis
  • TV / Entertainment
  • UFC/MMA
  • Virtual Sports
  • Volleyball

As you can see, pretty much every sport is available to bet on at Ladbrokes. There is also an impressive number of markets for each sport. This is especially true for more popular sports such as football, tennis and basketball where there can be dozens, if not hundreds, or betting markets.

In-Play Betting

As well as a large number of pre-match markets, the number of markets available to bet on in-play is also impressive at Ladbrokes.

As expected, football has the most in-play markets, especially for high-profile matches, but you’ll also find a good number of in-play markets for other sports such as tennis where you’ll be able to bet on individual points, sets, correct scores, the number of aces and more.

Live streaming is available on selected sports and events and even when a stream is not available, in-play stats can be of use. For tennis, in-play stats include the number of aces per player, double faults, service breaks, total points and more. Football stats include the number of cards per team, corners, dangerous attacks along with many others. In-play stats are available for the majority of in-play events although they can be missing for some less popular matches.

All in-play events can be found via the ‘In-Play & Streaming’ tab. Clicking on an individual event will display the in-play markets which are separated into helpful categories such as Main Markets, Goals, Scores and Players.

Live Streaming

Free live streaming is available to customers of Ladbrokes via their desktop, tablet or mobile devices.

Football, tennis, golf and basketball are just a few of the sports available to stream for free at Ladbrokes without needing to place a bet. However, you will have to have a positive account balance in order to access any of the streams.

To stream live horse racing, you must place a bet of £1 or more on the race you wish to watch. This can either be a £1 single bet or a £0.50 each way bet so long as the total stake is equal to or greater than £1.

All live streams can be accessed by clicking on the ‘In-Play & Live Streaming’ tab in the nav bar on the Ladbrokes website. You can also view all of the horse races which you have qualified to watch by visiting the ‘watch Live Racing’ page and viewing ‘My Qualified Races’. You then need to simply click on the video icon and the video player will open.

Streams usually begin around 5 minutes before the race starts and there is generally a short delay of around 5 seconds from the actual live event.

Customer Service

Ladbrokes make it easy for customers to get in touch with the support team via quick link icons at the top of the Ladbrokes website. You have the option of either browsing the help section, which contains frequently asked questions and answers, or contacting the support team directly. Ladbrokes seem to prefer customers contacting them via Twitter which seems to be the main point of contact. However, they also offer support via email, live chat and free phone. All the ladbrokes contact details can be found on the ‘Contact’ page or here on this page in the sidebar.

The majority of people prefer to use Live Chat when it comes to support queries as, providing the bookmaker has a good support system, questions are usually answered pretty quickly. Ladbrokes don’t fall short in this department with the average wait time to be connected to a support agent being less than 1 minute. We found the support agents very helpful with our queries and knowledgeable about the service.

Ladbrokes App

The Ladbrokes App is available to download for iOS and Android devices from the associated app stores. The app is just as impressive as the desktop website, if not slightly better. You’ll find all the same betting options along with access to promotions and additional features such as cash out.

By downloading the Ladbrokes App, not only will you have quick access to your account, you will also be able to receive push notifications. These can prove to be very useful as you will be notified when there are new promotions such as price boosts and free bet offers. Just remember to allow notifications from the app when you download it.

If you use an iOS device, you can also deposit into your Ladbrokes account using Apple Pay. It’s a quick and easy payment method that doesn’t require you to enter your card details and any deposit will be charged directly via your Apple account to your bank.

The Website

Ladbrokes host a unique website with a design that you won’t find anywhere else. Betting odds are displayed as slightly bigger than average buttons which makes it easy to browse markets for good odds.

The homepage displays the latest in-play events as the majority of bookmakers do, along with upcoming horse races and a carousel showing the latest promotions. Navigation between the various sports on offer is done via the main nav bar and a drop-down menu will bring up a long A-Z list of sports.

Navigation around the site is extremely easy and it isn’t hard to find a league or competition that you’re looking for. A second nav bar allows users to jump between the various sections of Ladbrokes such as the sportsbook, online casino, poker & bingo rooms, virtual sports section and the Ladbrokes exchange.

As you would expect from any top bookmaker, Ladbrokes allows customers to cash out their bets. Customers can choose to endtheir bets early and guarantee a return before the event has finished and their bet settled. Cash out is available on selected sports and markets and you’ll be able to find which bets are eligible for cash out by viewing your open bets. If a bet can be cashed out, there will be a cash out button with the cash out amount alongside the bet.

Ladbrokes has land-based betting shops around the UK and allows customers to connect their in-shop betting to their online betting account via a Ladbrokes Grid card. By using a grid card, you can also cash out bets online which have been placed in a Ladbrokes shop. This is a very nice feature and will be useful to those who may have placed a bet in-store but are unable to be in the shop during the event in which they bet on.

Online Casino

As well as a leading sportsbook, Ladbrokes also provide an excellent online casino which hosts over 400 online slots from over 20 different gaming providers such as Playtech, NextGen, NetEnt, IGT, Greentube, Ash Gaming and Realistic. With such a vast range of slots available, it’s likely that you’ll find what you’re looking for.

There is also a range of table games available to play at such as Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Heads-Up Hold’em, Hi-Lo Premium, Caribbean Stud Poker, Pai Gow Poker, Red Dog, Sic Bo and many more.

If you prefer a more realistic casino experience then you may wish to try the Ladbrokes Live Casino where you can play for real money with real life dealers and croupiers. Some Live Casino games include Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat, Hi_Lo and Hold’em.

Banking

Customers have a good range of methods available to deposit into and withdraw from their Ladbrokes accounts ranging from card payments, E-wallets and bank transfers.

The majority of customers use card payments for transactions but if you are using E-wallets such as Skrill, PayPal or Neteller, be aware that you may not qualify for some promotions Always read the terms of the promotion if a deposit is required to participate in it and see if E-wallet deposits are eligible.

Customers who have an iOS device and download the Ladbrokes app can also use Apple Pay for deposit and withdrawals which is good to see as Apple Pay transactions are becoming increasingly popular.

A list of available deposit and withdrawal methods at Ladbrokes can be found in the table below.

Method Min Dep Time Min Withdrawal Time
Visa/Mastercard £5 Instant £0.01 1-2 Banking Days*
Apple Pay £5 Instant £0.01 1-3 days
Skrill £10 Instant £0.01 Within 3 hours
PayPal £5 Instant £0.01 Within 3 hours
Neteller £10 Instant £0.01 Within 3 hours
Paysafecard £5 Instant £0.01 Min 6 hours

There is also the option to make deposits and withdrawals from within Ladbrokes shops by using a Ladbrokes Grid Card. A Grid Card is linked to your online account and you can use it in-store to claim exclusive promotions and to track your betting activity. You can apply for a Grid Card online via the Ladbrokes website by clicking on ‘The Grid’ in the top nav bar.

Account Settings

Ladbrokes provide customers with a range of options which they can use to personalise their account and betting experience.

Responsible Gambling: Ladbrokes provides a comprehensive Responsible Gambling section for all visitors. This includes a series of articles and various settings which customers can use to keep on-track with their betting activity.

Budget Calculator: The Ladbrokes Budget Calculator is a tool which shows you what percentage of your income is spent on gambling.

Account History: Customers have access to all of their bets placed through their Ladbrokes account as well as all deposits, withdrawals and transfers.

Deposit Limits: You can set limits to how much you’re able to deposit into your Ladbrokes account over a daily, weekly or monthly period.

Reality Check: When set, Ladbrokes will notify you when you have been playing for a specified amount of time.

Time-Out: You can take a break from Ladbrokes with a time-out for a period of 1 day, 1 week, 4 weeks or 6 weeks at a time.

Self-Exclusion: You can self-exclude yourself from Ladbrokes products for a longer period if you wish. Ladbrokes also provides information on how to exclude yourself from betting in Ladbrokes shops and via their telephone betting service.

Summary

Ladbrokes are somewhat of a household name and they’ve achieved that by providing an excellent betting service for over 100 years. If regular promotions, daily price boosts, a user-friendly website and even better app aren’t enough for you, then their welcome offer for new customers should be enough of a reason to register an account.

We fully recommend Ladbrokes as a quality sports betting site which has an excellent online casino to match.

OK For Me

Never been in a Ladbrokes shop as I do all my betting on mobile. Ladbrokes app has been good for me. Always honour my bets and always pay out so no complaints

Loyal Customer

★★★★★

always been a loyal customer of Ladbrokes (online only as I do not bet in the shops) and they have been good for me. Have had quite a lot of free bets off them in the past and always pay out my winnings. also the helpdesk was good when I had a problem with my credit card.

Ladbrokes Always Reliable

★★★★☆

Not sure why some people are harsh on Laddies especially when some complaints are based on bets placed in a shop. The online business is a totally different part of the company folks!! And I have never had any issues with them at all. You do not stay in business all this time if you're not a decent bookie.

not perfect but good

use the Ladbrooks app quite often and it normally works good. you get the same odds as in shop but bet from anywhere. plus free bet when you join which is £50 free you can never get that in the shops. they could offer more promotions for example weekly free bets. but the promo they do have is ok.

not the best

★★★☆☆
3 5 1
Ladbrokes are not the best choice. They are ok but I think you can get better odds and better offers at some other online bookies.

Better Alternatives

★★★☆☆
3 5 1
Ladbrokes are ok but not great. I have an account at most online bookies and there are better choices than Ladbrokes. There is nothing they do that others don't do better. It is worth having an account for the free bet but I do not use them regularly.

Just Horrible

★☆☆☆☆

I really, really do not like Ladbrokes. They treat you like garbage and their odds are bad, I mean really bad compared to other bookmakers. Literally cannot understand why anybody would bet with these when you can find so many other sportsbooks who look after their players much better. Whatever you bet on there is a better option.

Worst Ive Ever Seen

★☆☆☆☆
1 5 1
Absolute scum of the earth and worse bookie I have used by a mile. The way they treat their customers they obviusly hate each and every one of us and to be honest the feelings mutual.

Nasty Company

★☆☆☆☆
1 5 1
They are just a nasty, horrible comany to deal with. Laddies entice you in with their TV ads and offers but once you dare to win a bet and try and get your money out it is a different story and they will do literally anything to avoid paying you. I think they must be in some financial trouble cos they are doing whatever it takes to hold on to every penny and that is bad news for you if your betting with them as you will never see your winnings. Avoid these scumbags.

Keep Walking

★☆☆☆☆

Crap bookie alert! Bad odds bad service bad experience all round. Keep walking nothing to see here. Try somewhere else do yourself a favour!!!

Wish I'd Seen This Before

★☆☆☆☆

Thanks for your review, my only regret is that I did not see this earlier. If I had I would never have joined them and would have saved myself the £250 they stole from me. I am considering legal action against them because of this. Save yourself the hassle and bet somewhere else. They are scum pure and simple.

Gone Downhill

★☆☆☆☆
1 5 1
Surprised to see anyone gives them more than 1 star. Since they merged with Coral it has been downhill fast for Ladbrokes. Customer service was always poor but they found a way to make it worse. They limit accounts almost immediately, for no reason. What is the point if you can only bet 50p? And their odds are so bad you're lucky to even get your stake back if you win. And even if you do they don't like you withdrawing. Can't think of a single reason to recommend them. Other bookies are much much better!

Good for promos

★★★★★

I usually find myself heading back to Ladbrokes bcos of the promos. Generally a lot on offer across sports & casino which are good value.

Never understood the bad reviews of Ladbrokes. I've never had any problems with them and have used them for years. Promos aren't as good as they used to be there there are still a lot about.

Good but prefer others

Never had any issues with Ladbrokes but I prefer some other bookies. 365 & Will Hill are better IMO, especially WH as of late. Loads of good horse racing promos & boosts on the footy.
