Bangor-on-Dee is one of three racecourses that can be found in Wales.
Racing at Bangor dates back to 1859 and now, the racecourse hosts around 15 fixtures annually.
There is no grandstand at the course which makes it somewhat unique but it does still provide racegoers with restaurants, bars and other modern facilities.
The course has it’s own in-house betting system named bangorBET which replaced Tote back in 2012.
Bangor Racecourse
The track at Bangor is a left-handed and used for National Hunt races.
It’s a pear-shaped course that is fairly sharp and that has stiff fences.
Bangor-on-Dee Feature Races
Around 15 fixtures are hosted at Bangor throughout the year but none of them are of any major note. The lack of a grandstand means that the racecourse doesn’t attract the biggest races but it does still bring in good crowds.
The biggest race of the year in terms of prize money is the Anne Duchess of Westminster Memorial Handicap Steeple Chase which takes place in November.
