Hereford Tips

Hereford Racecourse is located in the county of Herefordshire and operated by Arena Racing Company but owned by Herefordshire Council.

After 240 years in operation, the racecourse closed in December 2012 after the Arena Racing Company failed to obtain a new licence from Herefordshire Council. However, after almost four years of only being used for Arabian racing along with a handful of other races, Hereford Racecourse reopened in October 2016.

Around a dozen fixtures now take place at the course with the number increasing annually since being reopened.

Hereford Racecourse

The course at Hereford is right-handed and almost square in shape with a sharp downhill home turn.

A circuit is around 10 furlongs and features nine fences to be jumped.

The Hereford track has been known to be quite testing in the winter months.

Hereford Feature Races

With having been closed for four-years, Hereford Racecourse is still attempting to reinstate prominent fixtures to its calendar. However, it is still a popular racecourse, especially so with the locals.

One of the most prominent racedays at Hereford is Ladies Day and unlike at most other racecourses, this fixture takes place in the Winter.

In the years to come, we’ll likely see more notable fixtures taking place at Hereford as it regains its authority.
