Kelso Tips

Boasting the reputation of having Britain’s friendliest racegoers, Kelso Racecourse provides a laidback and relaxed atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all the family. It has also won the Racegoers Club ‘Best Small Course in Scotland and the North of England’ award three times.

The racecourse is dedicated to National Hunt racing and features two tracks – a chase track measuring a distance of 1 mile 600 yards and a hurdle course of 1 mile 330 yards.

Jump meets take place at Kelso from September through to the following May.

Kelso Racecourse

The Kelso course is a sharp left-handed track that is predominantly flat. There is a chase course that runs around the outside of the track with the hurdles course sitting inside.

Kelso Feature Races

Race meetings take place at Kelso from September through to May and there is a host of racing and festivities to look forward to at the course every month.

February/March time is a big month at Kelso as it brings us the Morebattle Hurdle and the Premier Hurdle.

Morebattle Hurdle – Run over a distance of 2 miles and 2 furlongs and with ten hurdles to be jumped, the Morebattle Hurdle is the headline of the February National Hunt meeting.

Premier Hurdle – Part of the Premier Novices’ Hurdle day at Kelso Racecourse which also features the Premier Chase. It’s one of the biggest days of the year at the course and this race features ten hurdles over a distance of 2 miles and 2 furlongs.
