Salisbury is a right-handed downland flat-racing course that features no jumps. The straight course hosts races up to 1 mile and there is a loop to accommodate longer races of up to 1 mile and 6 furlongs.
The straight course has a steady rise throughout with strong galloping types generally favouring the conditions.

Salisbury Feature Races
Flat races take place at Salisbury Racecourse between April and October each year with the summer months being the most popular with racegoers.
Along with the Cathedral Stakes in June, the Upavon Fillies’ Stakes and Sovereign Stakes, both of which are in August, are popular meets. Frankie Dettori has been the most successful jockey in the Upavon Fillies’ Stakes over the years whereas no horse has ever won the Sovereign Stakes more than once. Dettori has also twice won the Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes which takes place in September but Richard Hughes is the leading jockey having won the race three times with the last being in 2012 before retiring two years later.
