The Premier League rolls on, and this time Liverpool head to Turf Moor to take on newly promoted Burnley. The Reds are chasing a fourth straight win to keep their perfect start alive, while Burnley are out to prove Turf Moor is still a fortress. It’s going to be a noisy Sunday in Lancashire. So, who comes out on top? Let’s take a look.
Scott Parker has a few key calls to make. New signing Florentino Luis could make his debut after joining on loan from Benfica, which would add bite to their midfield. Better news for Clarets fans is that Connor Roberts and Jordan Beyer are likely back after knee problems.
Up front, Lyle Foster will be tasked with unsettling Liverpool’s defence, while Jacob Bruun Larsen brings the pace and trickery on the wing. Burnley know their best chance is to make it ugly and play on the crowd’s energy.
Arne Slot has a stacked squad, but all eyes are on Alexander Isak. Liverpool smashed the transfer record to bring him in from Newcastle, and this might be the moment he gets his first Premier League minutes for the Reds. Remember, he scored in both of his league appearances against Burnley last season.
Hugo Ekitiké has started hot with three goals in four games, while Mohamed Salah is itching to get back on the scoresheet after firing a blank against Arsenal. At the back, Ibrahima Konaté looks fit again, and Jeremie Frimpong should return after a thigh injury.
Burnley (4-2-3-1):
Dúbravka; Roberts, Ekdal, Beyer, Hartman; Cullen, Luis; Larsen, Hannibal, Anthony; Foster
Liverpool (4-2-3-1):
Alisson; Frimpong, Konaté, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitiké
Here’s what I think… Burnley love a scrap at Turf Moor, and they’ll throw bodies forward when they get a sniff. Liverpool, though, just look too sharp going forward.
Burnley will score if they press the right moments – their energy at home is always intense – but Liverpool’s quality in attack should tell.
Liverpool are going to see a lot of the ball. Burnley will sit deep, crowd the middle, and look for Foster and Larsen to spring counters. That might work for a while, but over 90 minutes, the Reds usually find a way.
Match Prediction: Liverpool to win. Bet with bet365.
I’m leaning towards a 3-1 Liverpool win. Burnley’s home form means they won’t roll over, and they can definitely grab a goal. But Liverpool just have too many weapons to keep quiet.
Correct Score Prediction: Burnley 1-3 Liverpool. Bet with bet365.
The trends point one way: goals. Liverpool haven’t failed to score in a league game since September 2024. Burnley haven’t lost at Turf Moor since the final day of the 2023/24 season. Both teams will fancy their chances.
Over/Under Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Here’s a combo I like for Sunday:
That’s your all-action builder – it covers Burnley’s fight and Liverpool’s firepower.
Bet Builder Tip: Liverpool to Win, BTTS Yes, Salah Anytime Scorer, Over 2.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
