Another big night of World Cup qualifiers, and this one’s got that underdog edge written all over it. Faroe Islands are back on home turf, ready to give it everything against Montenegro — a side that’s been struggling to find its rhythm lately.
Both teams know what’s on the line. Third place in Group L is up for grabs, and while neither side has set the world alight, you can bet they’ll be fired up for this one. So, who takes it? Let’s dive in.
So, the Faroe Islands are feeling good after nicking a 1–0 win over Gibraltar last time out. It wasn’t the prettiest performance, but they’ll take it — a clean sheet and a much-needed three points.
They actually looked decent in that one: 60% possession, 13 shots, and Martin Agnarsson grabbing the winner in the 68th minute. Not bad for a team often seen as the group’s easy pickings.
The big question is consistency. They’ve scored just four goals in their last six games and conceded six in that same stretch. The defense has tightened up a bit, but they’re still missing that killer touch up front.
No fresh injury worries for manager Håkan Ericson, which is a bonus. Expect the usual solid setup — compact at the back, quick counters, and plenty of hard running. The Tórsvøllur crowd will be right behind them too. You can already picture that noise, can’t you?
Montenegro, on the other hand, are in a bit of a slump. They started this qualifying campaign like a rocket — two wins from two — but since then, it’s been all downhill. Three losses in a row, including a 3–1 defeat to Croatia last time out.
The stats tell the story: they’ve conceded 11 goals in their last six games and kept just one clean sheet. Not ideal for a team that prides itself on being tough to break down.
Mirko Vučinić, the new boss, is under pressure to turn things around. He wants his side to play with confidence again, but he’ll have to do it without two key names — teenage midfielder Andrija Bulatović is suspended, and veteran striker Stevan Jovetić is out injured.
Still, Montenegro have enough quality to cause problems. Guys like Nikola Krstović and Sead Hakšabanović can make magic happen when they’re on form. The big question is whether they can stay switched on for 90 minutes — something they’ve struggled with lately.
Faroe Islands: Nielsen; Davidsen, Vatnhamar, Faero, Agnarsson; Andreasen, Olsen, Johannesen; Petersen, Bjartalid, Edmundsson
Montenegro: Savić; Radunović, Vujačić, Marušić, Tomasević; Kosović, Janković, Mijatović; Hakšabanović, Krstović, Jovović
This one’s going to be tight. The Faroe Islands are tough to beat at home, especially on that windy Tórshavn pitch. Montenegro have the better players, sure, but their confidence is fragile right now.
You won’t believe this, but Montenegro haven’t scored more than once in any of their last four games. That’s a worry. Meanwhile, the Faroe Islands have found a bit of grit, especially in defense.
Betting angles worth a look:
Feels like one of those nights where Montenegro just about get it done — but only just.
So, how’s this one going to play out? Well, I see Montenegro having most of the ball, knocking it around, but struggling to break through that Faroe Islands wall. The home side will try to catch them on the counter, but they just don’t create enough chances to really threaten.
Eventually, quality should tell. Maybe a scrappy goal — a set piece, a deflection, something like that — and Montenegro hold on for dear life.
Match Prediction: Montenegro to win. Bet with bet365.
I’m leaning toward a 1–0 win for Montenegro again — just like the reverse fixture back in March. It feels like the safest call given both teams’ goal struggles.
If you want an outside shout, 2–0 Montenegro isn’t crazy either. A late second could kill it off if the hosts push for an equaliser.
Correct Score Prediction: Faroe Islands 0–1 Montenegro. Bet with bet365.
If you’re looking at goals, I’d say don’t expect many. The Faroe Islands rarely get involved in high-scoring games — just one of their last six has gone over 2.5 goals. Montenegro’s attack hasn’t exactly been flying either.
Over/Under Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Alright, here’s a simple combo if you’re building a bet:
That’s your “tight and tense” special. Nothing flashy, just a classic away-day squeeze.
Bet Builder Tip: Montenegro to win, under 2.5 goals, and both teams to score – no. Bet with bet365.

Montenegro should edge it. They’ve got more experience and better quality, even if they’re out of form. Expect a narrow away win.
I’m going for a tight 0–1 Montenegro victory — just like the reverse fixture earlier in the year.
The match takes place at Tórsvøllur Stadium in Tórshavn, the Faroe Islands’ national ground.
Kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 local time on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
