Who do you think will win?

There is something genuinely compelling about this one. You have got a Feyenoord side that just got absolutely torn apart at Camp Nou on matchday one, now trying to rediscover their European legs at a De Kuip that will be rocking. And then you have Como, a club that only arrived in Serie A relatively recently, now showing up in the Champions League and already proving they belong there after dismantling RB Leipzig 4-1 in their very first European outing. Two clubs at very different points in their stories, both with something to prove in this second group stage fixture.

The contrast in trajectories is fascinating. Feyenoord have been flying domestically since that Barcelona humbling, while Como are stuttering slightly in Serie A but carry genuine Champions League momentum. A Wednesday night under the De Kuip lights with all that context swirling around it? Count me in.

Feyenoord vs Como Match Details

This is a UEFA Champions League league phase matchday two fixture, played at De Kuip in Rotterdam. Feyenoord are the hosts looking to get their European campaign back on track after a tough opener, while Como make the trip to the Netherlands as one of the competition’s most intriguing newcomers this season.

Team News

Feyenoord are carrying a notable injury list heading into this one, and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have to work around several absences across his squad. Como are in considerably better shape, though they do have a handful of players unavailable.

  • Thomas Beelen (broken leg) out for Feyenoord
  • Jordan Bos (knee) out for Feyenoord
  • Bart Nieuwkoop (knee) out for Feyenoord
  • Reiss Nelson (muscle) out for Feyenoord
  • Gijs Smal (ankle) out for Feyenoord
  • Shaqueel van Persie also unavailable for Feyenoord
  • Goncalo Borges (knock), Tsuyoshi Watanabe (leg) and Jakub Moder (knee) all doubtful for Feyenoord
  • Moise Kean (leg injury picked up during the international break) out for Como
  • Maxence Caqueret, Jayden Addai, Mauro Vigorito, Adrian Lahdo, Willy Kambwala and Edoardo Goldaniga all unavailable for Como

Predicted Lineups

Van Bronckhorst looks set to go with the spine that has been delivering those three consecutive Eredivisie wins. Nacho Ferri leads the line having been in red hot form since Ayase Ueda’s departure to Lille, and the supporting cast of Gjivai Zechiel, Anis Hadj Moussa and Luciano Valente gives Feyenoord real variety in attack. The defensive injuries are a concern but the starting back four should be settled enough.

Feyenoord expected XI: Ernst; Read, St Juste, Marmol, Lopez; Zechiel, Vanhoutte, Targhalline; Hadj Moussa, Ferri, Valente

Cesc Fabregas will likely lean on the players who made such an impression against Leipzig. Martin Baturina scored Como’s first ever Champions League goal in that match and also got an assist, and Nico Paz was pulling strings all night with two assists of his own. Assane Diao and Anastasios Douvikas could complete a very attacking front four that will give Feyenoord’s makeshift defence plenty to think about.

Como expected XI: Butez; Couto, Ramon, Chalobah, Valle; Milla, Da Cunha; Diao, Paz, Baturina; Douvikas

Recent Form

Feyenoord’s domestic form since that 5-1 hammering in Barcelona has been nothing short of remarkable. Three wins from three in the Eredivisie, scoring fourteen goals across those games without conceding once. A hat trick for Ferri against PEC Zwolle, five goals put past FC Utrecht, and then a 2-0 win over AZ Alkmaar that ended the Alkmaar side’s seven month unbeaten run in the top flight. Van Bronckhorst’s team look like they found something after that European wake up call, and the confidence that comes with sitting top of the early Eredivisie table is real.

Como’s domestic picture is a bit murkier. They started the Serie A season well, picking up seven points from their first three games, and then hammered Leipzig 4-1 on their European debut. But since then the wheels have wobbled slightly. A 2-1 win over Parma was followed by a 2-0 defeat to promoted Frosinone, and then on Sunday they drew 0-0 at home to Roma despite playing against ten men for the final 44 minutes of the game. That goalless draw was Serie A’s first of the entire season, ending a run of 53 consecutive matches without a 0-0 result in the Italian top flight.

What that means in practical terms is that Como have now failed to score in back to back league games for the first time since December 2025. And heading into this fixture, Fabregas will be acutely aware that three consecutive scoreless games across all competitions would be an unwanted record under his management. That adds a layer of pressure on Como’s attacking players to deliver, and it gives this game an edge beyond just the points at stake.

Head-to-Head Record

This is a genuinely fresh matchup since Como and Feyenoord have never faced each other before, so there is no head to head history to lean on. What we can look at is Feyenoord’s broader record against Italian opposition, and it does not make comfortable reading for the Rotterdam faithful. They have won just once in seven meetings with Italian clubs, and their most recent taste of Serie A opposition came against Inter Milan in last season’s Champions League round of 16, where they lost 2-0 and 2-1 across the two legs. That is not a run of form to inspire confidence when a sharp Italian side comes to town.

Key Stats

  • Feyenoord have scored 14 goals without conceding in their last three Eredivisie fixtures
  • Como have failed to score in two consecutive league games for the first time since December 2025
  • Feyenoord have won just one of their last seven matches against Italian opposition
  • Nacho Ferri has scored in three consecutive appearances, including a hat trick against Zwolle
  • Como sit in the top eight of the Champions League standings after matchday one, a position they will want to protect

Feyenoord vs Como Betting Tips

The angle here is interesting because you have two teams pulling in slightly different directions. Feyenoord are in outstanding domestic form and desperate to make De Kuip a fortress in Europe again. Como are carrying quality in the final third but are misfiring right now, and travelling to Rotterdam is a completely different challenge to anything they face in Serie A. My betting interest centres on Feyenoord being hard to beat at home here, with goals likely given both teams have the tools to cause problems, even if Como are going through a dry spell in front of goal.

First Goalscorer Prediction

Nacho Ferri is the obvious call and for good reason. The striker has been ruthless since Ueda left, scoring in three on the bounce including a hat trick, and he will be leading the line against a Como defensive unit that has shipped goals in Europe already. At home, with the crowd behind him and the confidence he is carrying right now, Ferri opening the scoring feels like a solid shout.

Correct Score Prediction

The 2-1 to Feyenoord feels right to me. The home side have the firepower and the momentum, but Como have enough going forward through Paz, Baturina and Diao to nick one, especially given Feyenoord’s injury concerns at the back. A narrow home win with both teams getting on the scoresheet reflects the balance of the two squads reasonably well.

Corners Prediction

Both teams like to play through the thirds and neither is particularly set up to hoof the ball into the channels repeatedly, so I would not expect a corner fest here. That said, Feyenoord on the front foot at home and Como looking to hit on the break could generate a decent tally. Over 9.5 corners feels achievable given the attacking intent on both sides, with the home crowd pushing Feyenoord to keep pressing.

Cards Prediction

Champions League group stage games often have a relatively restrained card count early on, with referees from outside both countries bringing a different threshold to the game. Both managers want their sides to play football rather than rough it up, and while there will be intensity, this does not feel like a fixture likely to produce a card fest. Under 4.5 cards is the call, with the total likely sitting somewhere in the two to three range.

Over and Under Goals Prediction

Over 2.5 goals is where I am landing. Feyenoord have been scoring freely, Ferri is in the form of his life, and even a slightly misfiring Como side carries genuine threat through Paz and Baturina. The defensive vulnerabilities on both sides, particularly Feyenoord with their injury concerns in the back line, make a tight goalless affair very unlikely. Three or more goals across the ninety minutes feels the more probable outcome here.

Bet Builder Tip

Market Selection
First Goalscorer Nacho Ferri
Over/Under Goals Over 2.5 Goals
Both Teams to Score Yes

Ferri scoring in a game where both teams find the net and the total clears 2.5 goals ties together the form, the attacking quality on both sides and the defensive frailties that this fixture should expose.

Final Match Prediction

Feyenoord to win 2-1. The home advantage at a packed De Kuip, the domestic form they are carrying and Nacho Ferri’s irresistible run of scoring all point towards a Feyenoord victory. But Como are not here just to make up the numbers. Fabregas has built a clever, technically gifted side with players capable of hurting you on the ball, and their European performance against Leipzig showed they know how to handle the big occasion.

The concern about Feyenoord’s record against Italian clubs is worth keeping in the back of your mind, but this is a different context to those Inter Milan knockout ties. At home, full of confidence, with a striker who cannot stop scoring, Van Bronckhorst’s side should edge this one. Como will cause problems and probably nick a goal, but Feyenoord get the win they need to kick start their Champions League campaign properly.
