The Premier League is serving up one of its biggest rivalries — Liverpool vs Manchester United at Anfield. This fixture never disappoints, does it? It’s the clash that brings history, drama, and usually, a few goals.
Liverpool are coming off a tough patch before the international break, but a return home might be exactly what they need. United, meanwhile, are trying to find some consistency under Ruben Amorim. Both sides have something to prove — and that’s what makes this one fascinating.
So, who takes control at Anfield this time? Let’s dig in.
Liverpool have been all over the place lately. Three straight losses before the break — to Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea — left fans frustrated. But Anfield changes things. The Reds have won all five of their competitive home games this season, and that fortress energy might just spark a comeback.
Arne Slot should have most of his big names available. Cody Gakpo is flying after a brilliant international break — three goals and an assist for the Netherlands — while Mohamed Salah remains the go-to man in attack. Expect Wirtz and Díaz to start wide, with Mac Allister and Szoboszlai back in midfield control.
Defensively though, Liverpool remain shaky. They’ve conceded in each of their last six games, which is worrying. Don’t be shocked if United find the net.
Possible Liverpool lineup:
Alisson; Frimpong, Konaté, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike
United are slowly improving under Amorim, but they’re still unpredictable. A solid 2-0 win over Sunderland before the break helped, with goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Šeško. But here’s the problem — they haven’t won away from home this season. And they haven’t beaten Liverpool at Anfield in almost a decade. That’s a serious mental hurdle.
Rasmus Højlund is still nursing a knock, so Šeško is expected to start again. Bruno Fernandes will pull the strings in midfield, and Kobbie Mainoo should partner Casemiro to keep things balanced. Defensively, they’re still vulnerable — six goals conceded in their last two away matches tells you the story.
Possible Man Utd lineup:
Onana; Dalot, Varane, Martínez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Šeško
There’s no way this ends 0–0. Both teams can score, and both defences look suspect. Liverpool’s attack has too much pace and flair at home, while United have enough going forward to nick one.
If you’re looking at value, Liverpool to win & over 2.5 goals feels solid. The Reds are unbeaten at Anfield this season, and United’s away form is just too poor to trust.
Gakpo anytime scorer is another strong shout — he’s in top form and has already scored three in five league meetings with United, including one at Anfield last season.
Betting angles worth a look:
This one should deliver. Liverpool will push high, dominate the ball, and look to overwhelm United early. Amorim’s side will have moments, but their defence doesn’t look equipped to handle Salah, Gakpo, and Wirtz when they’re in full flow.
That said, I can see United grabbing a consolation — maybe from Fernandes or Šeško. But over 90 minutes, Anfield’s atmosphere and Liverpool’s intensity usually make the difference.
Match Prediction: Liverpool to win. Bet with bet365.
Liverpool haven’t kept a clean sheet in six matches, so United should find a goal. But at the other end, the Reds are clinical when they smell blood at home.
Correct Score Prediction: Liverpool 3–1 Manchester United. Bet with bet365.
The stats point clearly towards goals.
So, the safe play is Over 2.5 Goals — but if you want a bit more value, Over 3.5 might just land.
Over/Under Prediction: Over 3.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Here’s a combo I really like for this one:
That’s your “Anfield Classic” special — full of energy, goals, and attacking chaos.
Bet Builder Tip: City to Win, Over 2.5 Goals, Haaland to Score, Foden Assist. Bet with bet365.

Liverpool look stronger at home, so I’m backing them to edge this one.
I’m going with Liverpool 3–1 Manchester United.
Yes, both sides should find the net given their defensive records.
Cody Gakpo — he’s red-hot right now and loves a goal against United.
