Monday night football sees Newcastle host Liverpool, and you can bet the atmosphere will be buzzing. The Magpies are still chasing that elusive league win against Liverpool – they haven’t managed one in 17 attempts. Painful, right? Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to build momentum after hitting four past Bournemouth last weekend.

Arne Slot also has a few names missing. Freddie Woodman, Rhys Williams, Stefan Bajcetic, and Conor Bradley are all unavailable. Even so, the Reds still look stacked. Likely lineup? Alisson in goal; Konaté and Van Dijk holding the fort; Kerkez at left-back; Mac Allister and Gravenberch in midfield. Then you’ve got Salah, Wirtz, and Gakpo buzzing around Hugo Ekitike up front. That’s a serious attack.

Here’s what I think… Newcastle will get their chances at home. They always do. But finishing has been their issue, and against Liverpool, that’s a problem. The Reds don’t mind leaving the back door open, but their firepower going forward usually makes up for it.

Newcastle are tough at home, and they’ll have their spells of pressure. Bruno will be key in midfield, and Gordon’s pace can hurt Liverpool on the break. But the numbers don’t lie. Liverpool haven’t lost at St James’ Park in their last eight league visits. Every time these sides meet, it feels like Liverpool just have that extra gear.
