Spain are back in World Cup qualifying action, and this time, Georgia are the visitors to Elche. Spain just smashed Turkey 6–0 away from home, while Georgia made light work of Bulgaria with a 3–0 win.
So, both sides come in buzzing, but one clearly has the upper hand in quality and confidence. Let’s dig into what to expect.
Spain look ruthless right now. They’ve won five of their last six matches and bagged 21 goals in that run. The 6–0 thrashing of Turkey was vintage Spain — slick, sharp, and impossible to stop.
Pedri and Merino were everywhere, both scoring twice, and Torres added another. Even without superstar teenager Lamine Yamal (injured), there’s so much depth in this squad. Nico Williams should slot in perfectly on the wing, bringing his pace and energy back to the side.
With players like Rodri controlling the tempo and Morata leading the line, this Spanish team looks balanced and dangerous. At home, in front of a packed crowd, they’ll fancy themselves to run riot again.
Georgia have been impressive in their own right. Four wins in their last six, 16 goals scored, and a growing sense of belief under coach Willy Sagnol. They’ve scored in every match recently — no small feat for a team once seen as outsiders in Europe.
But here’s the tough part: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is injured. The PSG winger is their talisman, and missing him is massive. Without his creativity, Georgia will lean heavily on Georges Mikautadze, who’s in fine form, and midfield dynamo Nika Gagnidze.
They’ll try to stay compact, frustrate Spain, and counter quickly — but defending for 90 minutes against this Spanish attack? That’s a tall order.
This fixture has been all Spain. Since 2016, they’ve beaten Georgia five times out of six, scoring 25 goals along the way. That’s more than four goals per match on average.
Georgia’s last (and only) win was way back in a friendly, and it’s safe to say a repeat looks unlikely here.
I expect this will be another Spain masterclass. You’ll see the usual pattern: endless possession, fast passing, and constant pressure. Georgia will defend deep, hoping to counter once or twice, but Spain’s tempo might just wear them down.
If Pedri and Rodri get on the ball early, and Williams stretches the play out wide, Spain will carve out chance after chance. Georgia’s spirit won’t be enough to stop the tide for long.
Can you imagine if Spain score early? It could turn into another rout.
Spain:
Unai Simón; Carvajal, Laporte, Le Normand, Grimaldo; Rodri, Merino; Williams, Pedri, Torres; Morata
Georgia:
Mamardashvili; Kakabadze, Kvirkvelia, Kashia, Dvali; Gagnidze, Kiteishvili; Chakvetadze, Davitashvili; Mikautadze, Zivzivadze
Here’s what I think: goals. Lots of them. Spain’s attack is purring, and Georgia’s defence will be under serious pressure.
Betting angles worth checking out:
Stats back it up too: Spain have scored three or more goals in five of their last six games against Georgia.
Spain look too strong, too quick, and too confident to be troubled here. Georgia will compete and might even sneak one, but Spain’s attack should be far too much.
Match Prediction: Spain to win. Bet with bet365.
If you’re after a specific scoreline, I’d lean toward 4–1 Spain. It fits their current form — plenty of goals, a small defensive lapse maybe, but total control overall.
Correct Score Prediction: Spain 4–1 Georgia. Bet with bet365.
All signs point to another high-scoring match. Spain’s last six games have averaged over five goals, and Georgia rarely fail to find the net themselves.
Over/Under Prediction: Over 3.5 Goals. Bet with bet365.
Here’s one I like for a Bet Builder:
It’s bold, but it matches how Spain have been playing — aggressive, attacking, and ruthless.
Bet Builder Tip: Spain to win, Both teams to score, Over 3.5 goals, and Ferran Torres anytime scorer. Bet with bet365.
