Day two of the ATP Chengdu Open 2026 brings a busy schedule of first round action, with several interesting matchups across the draw. Here is a look at the matches on court today and where the results are likely to fall.
These two have never met before, so there is no head to head record to lean on. Both players are capable on hard courts and both carry genuine weapons, but the more pressing question is who is in better competitive shape right now. Harris has not been logging a huge number of main draw appearances lately, which always creates a question mark about match sharpness at this level.

Zhou will have home support given the tournament location, and that can lift a player, but Cerundolo is the kind of opponent who is very difficult to hit through. The Argentine retrieves well, extends points naturally, and forces errors by simply staying in the rally longer than his opponent wants. Cerundolo should take this comfortably without being pushed to a decider.
Mannarino already leads this head to head at one win to nil, and that prior form gives him an added layer of confidence going into the match. The Frenchman is deep into the veteran phase of his career but he keeps on competing, and his left handed game continues to cause problems for players who have not faced it regularly.
Shang is a talented young baseliner and capable of putting up a serious fight, but Chengdu’s conditions should suit Mannarino’s style well. The quicker the surface plays, the more effective his flat and awkward ball becomes. If his serve holds up and he dictates the patterns from the off, his experience and variety should carry him through what could be a tricky three setter.
Another first meeting, and one that shapes up as a fairly even baseline contest on paper. Both players are comfortable trading from the back, though Ugo Carabelli is more naturally at home on clay where the slower conditions suit his grinding style. Shifting that game onto hard courts requires a slightly different calibration and it is not always a seamless transition.
Borges has shown repeatedly that he can produce quality tennis on hard courts and he has been the more consistent performer across the season as a whole. Neither player is going to blow the other off the court with their serve, so this will come down to who manages the long exchanges better and who finds the right moments to go for it. Borges looks the stronger bet on this surface.
